I've been rather enticed by these as they seem so quick and easy to put up from the promo videos, possibly even for one person such as myself. Are they all they are cracked up to be? Do they erect well and easily?

I've found myself drawn to the Khyam Explorer 400 as that's got loads of room for two of us (me and 16yo daughter, plenty of standing up room as I can't abide trying to get dressed bent double and all round suitable for our needs.

Anyone got any experience or opinions?
Thanking you kindly

The Explorer looks like the reverse of the Freelander, with the dome side at the back, and tunnel in the front.

I have not used this tent before, however, I love my Freelander, which is a 3-berth tent, and I can put it up on my own without any help, being only 5'2" tall.

I shall add a small tarp over the door to prevent water ingress in case I do not do it up properly when the weather is bad.

However, the Explorer is taller than the Freelander by 25cm, so there may be an issue if you are not very tall.

I have not read many reviews about the Explorer as I believe it is new for 2010, so it is worth doing some research on the web to see if there are any reviews about.

Hope this helps.

I have a Khyam chatsworth and am a solo camper. I can put up this tent quickly and easily by myself and love it. Ive put it up in wind and rain, ok not gale force, but it was windy. Its a four berth and lots of room for me and my dog.

I have had 4 Kyhams up to date, the smallest one, a Mackenzie and a Tourer 200, now am enjoying the Freelander.

All of them were very easy for me, being an elderly solo campimg.

My Cabanon Noumea, a pyramid also goes up very easily , but is canvas and much heavier to manage.

Me and my dog just love the Freelander.

Thank you all very much for your views. We've bought a Freelander for now and if it transpires that I would like something bigger in time, I shall let teenage daughter take the freelander to go camping with friends etc (she doesn't care about space as much as me!) and look again at the bigger Khyams.

Still liking the Explorer though

Good luck with the Freelander!

I would love a second door on the Explorer for certain!
