Ok, here's the secenario.

Family of 4, kids are 5&8, one of each flavour. Our beloved Monty 6 is now 5yrs old and has served us very well but is getting a little tired. We have upgraded over the years so added the carpet, then the extension and this year the awning - which is just fab. Kids share and when eldest decides against it he can have a pop up pup tent. Would fit nicely in the Monty awning to begin with!

Will continue to use the Monty as we weekend tent with or without awning/extension as suits.

We usually spend 2 - 3 weeks camping in France every summer (this yr Dordogne) and have been toying with buying a polycotton or canvas tent for the summer trips.

So... suggestions please. We don't really want anything that is significantly bigger than the Monty 6. Currently toying with a Bear lake 6 but concerned that it is a 4+2 rather than 3+3. Like the idea that we could cobble our Monty awning on the front of a BL6.

What is the thing with Cabanon - so many devotees here please share the experience. If they are the bees knees then which one?

In terms of camping habits that always help guide tent choice  - we are using EHU for the time this yr and then only to power a fridge (Waeco CF 35 - thanks for all the advice on that - it is fab!). We sleep on fat airics, sit on moon chairs and cook on a calor double burner and charcoal BBQ.

Will probably buy another Monty when ours finally gives up the ghost but are prepared to invest in a good quality tent for the big summer trips abroad.

Thanks - am prepared to pay for quality as this is a many year plan.

We reckon we have had over 130 nights out of our Monty in 5 years so put that way the cost per night is low!

How about one the best, a cabanon biascay , Bmw build quality, really easy to put up, pollycotton so warm and cool when needed, bomb proof in all weathers and a nice place to be.............................
