We've just come back from our first camping trip this year - lovely, lovely, lovely.  And, just like last year, we all *love* our lovely bell tent.

But....we cannot get the door right!  Every time we always get a really, really tight bit across at the level of the top of the vertical 'walls'.  Can anyone help?

We've tried loosening the guys either side of the door; changing the angle of those guys; putting the door frame higher or lower; loosening the main door guy rope.  Nothing's worked!  I'm getting really worried about the strain being put on the zip, not to mention how hard it is to shut the door!  Help!

Which bell tent is it?

I know RAF (another member on here) mentioned problems with an A frame, not sure which make of bell tent though

Never had any problems with mine (belltent.co.uk one), but RAF might be able to help

We got it from Obelink so it's the same one as belltent.co.uk sell.  A-frame door; separate groundsheet.

Perhaps the ZIG on mine keeps the shape better than the separate ground sheet one, as the tent is obviously pitched where it should be in the main doorway

If you follow the line on the seams on the tent with the guy ropes, they should be in the correct place - other than trying to move them more to the front, not really sure what to suggest

I don't think we've got a photo with the door closed, and I can't put it up now to take one - no space! 

We have tried doing similar with the door-side guys (and I do know what you mean) but not as dramatic as parallel so will try that.

Our A-frame is all in one piece - sprung sections IYSWIM - so we couldn't try that.

I use an adjustable aluminium clothes prop for my single pole.

On my very heavy duty 4mtr Bell tent, I use a hooked elastic between the two front guys at night, to help pull  the twin zip togetrher. It has a flap, not two half doors as yours has.

Some of the latest A frames have vertical lower sides to help solve problems with fabric creasing.

does the seperate groundsheet have the pockets in it the same as the zig for the frame?

Do you zip the door shut after putting in the A frame and before tensioning the guy ropes?

Is the door zip tight even before pegging out the guy ropes? If so it sounds as if something doesn't fit and you should get on to the company you bought it from. Sounds like the A-frame is at too wide an angle or something.
