I bought the bargainous Eurohike tarp last week. But because it isn't square, I'm not sure how best to use it to provide shelter at the front of my tent - do I put it up like the picure, seperate from my tent, or can I have it in some way attached to form a canopy over my front door? I feel as though the answer is staring me in the face and I can't blooming see it!
From a quick look at it, I think it only has holes where the poles are shown in the picture. Tarp

I was only thinking the same thing but haven't had it out the bag yet. I also have another large rectangular tarp which might be better suited for over sloping door.

Hmmm, it might not be such a bargain if I can't use it how I want to! However I will try it out next time we go away, I might be able to make it suit our needs once I see it out properly.

I just bought the Vango Adventure Tarp this very afternoon, for use over the door of my Kyham Freelander. There are some holes and loops on the elasticated side and with the use of longer guys and a pole it ought to be OK.
If the eyelets on the tarp are the same distance apart as the poles on the tent then you could attach two eyelets over these with additional poles holding up the rest of the tarp, this is why we bought some additional poles to give us more flexibility with the tarp.
You might find some lightweight paracord (or guyrope) give you some possbilities too. If you ran the long middle widthways across the front (with paracord to stiffen, like a ridge pole) of the tent you then have a short side to attach to uprights or guys over the door
I found with tarps all the pictures/ideas make little sense until I go play - you can do samoe amazingly daft things with a tarp and some string . . .
if you click the link to the previuos thread it will take you to a thread about the chef annexe for the evolva, in that you will see a tarp similar to yours fitted to the front of a chef annexe
it is fitted with the front of the annexe used in place of the back pole, the fitted guys on the corner of the tarp are pegged close to the tent so the back of the tarp takes the shape of the tent, fit the pole at the front and peg as per instructions and you have a tarp extentsion
Thanks guys, that's all very useful stuff! I will def get the eyelet kit I think, but hopefully from Ebay so I can use Paypal, which I tend to see as being "free"
I look forward to playing with my tarp now - there will be photos!

my ebay eyelet kit was garbage, punched holes all around the actual fitting rather than just the hole, so the eyelets just fell out and left a big hole
Ended up getting a pack of the cheapo plastic ones you smash in with a hammer
