I am considering buying the Urban 4 Man Tent Pack, it will prodominemtly be sleeping two adults and two children has anyone purchased this tent and how did you find it. I am on a tight budget. I used the Halfords family tent before and it was fine however I wanted more water resitant properties

if its just the tent you need might i suggest you take a look at the coleman pamandi 4 which is a better quality tent and includes a large canopy for £99.99 at go outdoors next week.

I think the only ones that benefit from buying stuff from halfords are halfords, most of the time (90%) you can buy better, cheeper elsewhere.
At least you came here for advice, and the peeps here will no doubt steer you in the right direction.
Just give em all the info to help, ie budget...
:)

Go outdoors has a Outwell Nevada, or a Vango Icarus for <£150 this weekend, both have far more space.

If you can afford to spend more then do so, but look at the go outdoors sale, also Millets and do a google search for tents and many more retailers will come up. If possible visit an exhibition or show so that you can see and walk into all the options. Choose wisely and you will have no end of fun and enjoyment.

P.S. spend a reasonable amount of money and get yourself decent sleeping bags>

Hi gardennovice

Welcome to the forum.

As others have said, you get what you pay for. I havent ever had one of these so cant comment specifically, but like a lot of other stores who market tent packages, you will end up spending a fair amount of money on ok at best equipment.

I notice that the bedrooms look small and there is no SIG

You havent said how old you children are, but if they are younger you may find a tent that has one big sleeping area, or a divider between, would be better.

If it were me, I would get a decent tent but dont bother buying too much else, Take your duvet with you instead of buying sleeping bags - that way if you dont like it you will have a decent tent that you can easily sell on here or ebay and you wont have wasted your money on a load of other stuff you wont use.

In terms of tent, how about a Vango Orchy 500, it is here http://www.yeomansoutdoors.co.uk/products/tents/5-6-man-tents/vango-orchy-500-tent-laurelsage.aspx for £129

Hope this helps

TT

Wow what a grat response thank you all for your advice. Last year I borrowed the Halfords Family pack for two camping sessions and it was ok however I intend to do more camping this year. At this stage I have no camping equipment at all so the pack looked attractive. I am due to go on my first adventure this coming weekend so I will have to do some hetic research.

You might also consider looking in your local ads or preloved and picking up something second hand? You sometimes get people selling complete outfits.

I have just bought a Nevada M from millets online. It was £199.00 But I got 30% off with the times camping code so worked out at £140.

Millets is on Quidco with  10% cashback. There was a 20% off code on quidco too though it may have expired now.

We went to Go outdoors to get some ideas about which tent to go for. A chap in there gave us lots of helpful advice and we ended up buying a smaller better quality one rather than a big cheap one.

Have you though about buying a second hand one of a good brand, to help your budget stretch?
