We are the proud owners of the nevada m and pitched in the garden for the first time today. I think it's the 2010 model we have, and had read about problems with the eyebrow pole in previous models. There is no way the pole we have will fit, as it is supposed to, without damaging the tent, it is far too long! We thought that this problem had been resolved with the 2010 but maybe it has not, or have we bought a 2009? We did not want to force it. Does anyone have any suggestions. We'd be very grateful as we are without a porch for our maiden voyage next weekend

Is the eyebrow pole one long straight piece or does it have two "elbows"/bends in it? If the former then it is not this year's model.

We've got the Outwell Explorer and had the same problem, I cut a 1 & 1/4 inch piece off the centre section of the brow pole and it now fits perfectly.

As Scout says: if it has angle bends it is a 2010. I too found it a bit tight first time I fitted it, but as the pole fixing holes are on webbing that clips to the ten poles I find it easier to fit if you unclip the webbing (at least at one side).

I personally think the pole is still a little too tight, compared to other door poles I've come across, but you soon get the hang of fitting it. It doesn't appear to put the tent under any undue stress.

I had a straight pole, 3 sections without angles on my nevada xl, and after having 2 of them snap because it was too long, and trouble getting the door zip to close properly , I finally replaced it with a pole that was an inch or two shorter and had no problems with it afterwards.

The first time we tried it I thought we had the problem, but on closer inspection we hadn't quite pushed the poles together tight enough. It is tight, and (although we've only put it up twice) my heart is in my mouth watching OH put it in as it looks like it gonna rip the tent, but once its in, its fine.

Christine, are the Millets tents 2010 ones with the two bends in as discussed above?

I have a Nevada M from Millets and yes, it's the 2010 model with the bent brow pole. I struggled with it the first time, but once you get the knack, it's OK.
Millets seem to have sold out now though - surprise surprise.

Hi, we did get it in after a struggle, but I feel the tension on the seams (where the webbing meets the tent) is too taut, you can see the sky through the stitching. Surely I can't leave it like that can I?

Mmm... certainly doesn't sound right. I don't recall ours being that tight. Unfortunately it's packed away now so I can't check. Only thing I can suggest is leave it up 'till it rains and see if it leaks. If it does, take it back.

Ditto the Lancman. The pole is tight, so I purposefully checked my webbing straps for any sign of damage and I found none; and the tent has been is some serious wind recently that was violently blowing the porch around.

Sometimes on tents you can see holes on joins that are either outside and cause no leak threat, or have been sealed so should not leak. Can't say I've seen any holes on my Nevada though.

As already suggested, try to pitch the tent, and see if it leaks - a hose pipe is good for speeding the process.

However, if it is peace of mind you are after then try to get an exchange. We should trust our kit and not have any doubts lingering in the back of our minds.

I had this exact same issue with my Minnesota. On the Minny it was simply an issue that the webbed strapping (old system) was too long so that the tension was being put on the stitching, etc. and not the poles. So I now use plastic cable ties to fasten the black brackets/ferules to the poles. However, the Nevada has fibreglass poles and I don't believe that they are rigid enough to take this tension from the stitching.

The fact that you are having these problems with the new style of eyebrow pole is worrying and suggests big issues with Outwell quality control. How can they not have fixed this successfully by now. I've not read of one similar complaint with the Vango eyebrow setup.
