ahh you were replying to an earlier comment somone made about Vangus being as common as muck. They were sell out tent of 2009, so they are very common, I am sure it was just an expression :) We all knows Vangos are great, I just wondered if Gelert were also good, coz I would get a free carpet!! Lol

We saw the Gelert Lakesbury 5 in Trago Mills on our way back from Cornwall and kept humming and haaing about buying it. OH is 6'4" and I'm just under 6' so being able to stand upright is a big thing for us. Anyway we walked away without buying it and felt we'd regretted it.
We then came across the Vango Icarus 500 and liked the fact you could attach a canopy, giving more outdoor space. I'm not sure this option is available on the Gelert (sure someone can verify this). Also the reviews on here swayed us to eventually opt for the Vango.
You mention prices are high at the mo, but it seems the more you buy, the more you save (based on individual prices). We got ours with footprint, carpet and canopy for £229.99 with free delivery from here. Ordered it on a Wednesday night and it arrived Friday morning! Also picked up an EHU from them for £39.95 and done our first camping jolly with electric a few weeks back...feel very civilised now! A kitchen is my next thing on the agenda

hi starr it was an old thread and some one mentioned they got the 500 for that price.The cheapest i can find the 500, is for 127 pound on amazon by a compant called cave and crag ltd.Do you have a card membership for go outdoors,you could save some money again because they have a price match promise,they will match any price then take a further 10% off.They are selling the 500 for 139pound.

aww bless lancman! its the only reason we don't head south, the fact that everywhere gets booked up so quickly, you should pop up this end of the country instead, yeah i know its up north and will probably rain but we have plenty of room up here and its a little cheaper!
