Hi,

Following the success of our first trip in the Aspen, I am now coveting carpets. I would also quite like a footprint to save the bottom of the tent getting mucked up.

Vango didn't make a carpet for the Aspen so do I have any options of using a different make carpet?

Same with the footprint, could I just get some sort of tarp from somewhere else?

Cheers,
Nicola x

Hi Nicola,  I am considering the same issue and have just discovered that the new Zambezi has replaced the Aspen but has the same footprint,  Hope this helps.  Lorna

Hi Lorna,

Yes I have recently found out this and am looking on eBay. I've just seen a ripped one (!) going for £22. I might just look into getting a suitable sized tarp or something instead.

How long have you had your Aspen? DO you like it?

Hi Nicola,

Have had it now for about 3 years and absolutely love it.  The space inside is second to none although it can be a pain to put the outer on in the wind - I have nearly ended up hang-gliding on a couple of occasions!!

What do you think of yours?

Hi,

We have only just bought ours and have only pitched it twice. Once in the local park, for the first time, which almost resulted in divorce ha ha! The second time was fine once we knew what we were doing. I love the space inside.

I wish the bags weren't as heavy so I could carry them and wished it was a wee bit quicker to pitch but overall I love it! The kids love it and it kept us all warm and dry during peeing down rain in N Wales the other weekend, apart from the outer nearly blowing clean away when we mistakenly unpegged it all when we were unpitching (is that the right word?!)

How long does it take you to pitch up?

Hi,

Probably the best part of an hour although we're going away next weekend and will try the suggestion on web-site for putting up inner.  Generally me and OH put the tent up asap and then while OH is hammering pegs down securely I make a start getting beds ready etc. Also a bit easier now as the kids are able to help!  They also make super weights for holding down the outer while we fold it!!lol

It is a bit of a palaver but worth it as we have been very secure before in high winds and rain while other tents didn't fare so well.  Last summer in Cornwall several other tents were totally flooded and all clothing, beds etc were soaked while we were fine.

How long does it take you?

Us? About three hours! Ha ha!

I'm sure each time we will get quicker!
