so ..... went to look at tents today and of the ones we saw we narrowed it down to two.... The Royal Tampa 6 and the Outwell Nevada M. Happy to consider others if anyone knows of anything else worth trying.

2 adults and 2 kids (3 & 5) and so the living room needed to be reasonable for wet days. The Tampa works out at £50 cheaper when the carpet/footprint/tent/canopy are included for both .... but which is best???

My wife prefers the royal, but all I have read is that the outwells are good quality (not sure about royals?)....

any advice very welcome :)

many thanks

Clinton

Try go outdoors they have some great deals on Outwells at the moment. I dont know how much space you are after i personally prefer Khyams as they are very roomy and good quality. They also have riser groundsheets that can be a god send when you have children and a dog who seem to constantly trip over ones that dont.

Hi

It would have to be the Nevada M every time for me,its a cracking tent and you can get a nice front extension for it as well.

The other I would consider is the Vango Icarus 500 or the bigger 600

many thanks for the replies :)

The problem I have with the Vangos is that they did not seem to be as good quality when we looked at them (they seemed like cheapy 'argos' type tents compared to the royals and Outwells. This may not be the case at all, but to a newbie it seemed that way. Lots of people on here have suggested the icarus tent when I did my research on here, but there was not an icarus there for us to see yesterday.

I guess, my question is, whats best for quality Royal, Outwell.... other ?? ;)

Looking at dimensions last night it would seem that the Nevada L is a more equivalent size to the Tampa 6, but I have found a Nevada L/footprint/side extension/carpet for £380 which is the same price as the same package for the Royal.

I agree with you Nickyt about the kids tripping over the SIG (they did it loads when looking yesterday, but the last time we went we had a tent without SIG and the place got very wet (bad weather) and put my wife off... so we might have to put up with a few trips!

The Vango Icarus range are 2000HH where as the Royal is 2500 and the outwell is 3000, so a bit more water proof than both. The Royal loks a nice tent, slightly bigger than the Outwell.

Vango tents are quality products, we have a Diablo and a Tempest and both are well made.

We are taking our new Outwell Nevada M away today for a night to try it out, will let you know tomorrow what i think of it in comparison to the Vango.

Some friends of ours have a Royal 6 berth dome tent and they are happy with it.

We also have a Royal 6 Berth canvas frame tent which we used for several years in the past, the only issue we had with that was the Kitchen extension leaked but its not really a comparison to the nylon tents found these days.

Too many tents, Vango Diablo 900XP, Large canopy and Vango windbreak. Outwell Nevada M and Outwell canopy, Vango tempest 200.
