We have a vango tigris 800 and one of the poles has split.  I've discovered that vango no longer replace tent poles - we've only used the tent 5 times, but hei ho!

We can buy a replacement section but was wondering if anybody knew how you replace just one piece (It's not the top section).  Trying to get the elastic back down the poles looks like a tricky task - anybody got any useful tips?

Thanks in advance.

buy a shock cord re-thred kit...although if you buy a set of vango spare pole sections(about £10 in Towsure) you get elastic and a wire threader with it.....

I am having a similar problem, but having to replace several poles/do stiching to inner after tent was borrowed!

I can't find the wire threader you need to buy on its on, but something like this looks fairly reasonable: clicky

only problem is you may need to trim pole to fit

You don't need any special tools to handle the shock cord. I improvise a clamp to hold the cord at the desired point by putting rubber bands onto a pair of pliers.

If the cord wont re-thread back easily after cutting you replacement section to size, then a length of cotton masking taped to the shock cord  with a heavy needle on it can be used to "drop" through the pole.

It is all a lot easier than it sounds. Just take your time.

Some places do a full kit for replacing sections, that include multiple pole sections, new shock cord and a threader. You just need to measure your existing poles to get the right ones.

Winfields do a few different Vango ones.

Edit: didn't realise Adam+Kat had posted the same thing via Amazon
