Hi

i bought a kampa Lulworth 4 last year its been used twice for a total of 3 weeks and it leaks.

Has anyone else had this problem it leaks around the 2 side doors the water comes in from the top and runs down the inner mesh screen. I waterproofed it again last week but it didn't make a difference. I am aware that Kampa say the seams may need sealing and give you a tube of sealant but it didnt make any difference and for a new tent to leak like this is not normal. I think its a design fault as the inner tabs for the toggles wick the water through the sides of the tent. Its a real shame as otherwise it s a brilliant tent but not much use if it leaks like this. It happens after about 5 minutes of rain not just moonsons so i would expect it to cope.

So if you have problems or have had problems please let me know

Thanks in advance

John

Are you sure that its not condensation, as that will find its way down such as toggle tabs and follow the flysheet to a natural drop point? An adult breathes out about a pint of liquid a night. With wet clothing in a tent its also worse. In wet weather you also tend not to have so much ventilation open, making it worse...

HI john

My lulworth leaked in exactly the same place. The flap above the window was the problem.I used seam sealer on the end of a small brush, lift the small flap on the inside above the mesh and paint the sealer in the gap.Working well in.

It worked for me, but like you say you shouldn't really have to do it.

I hope this helps

Hi

its not condensation i "bailed out" 4 pints of water after one night of rain! and to be fair they dont condensate that much due to the 3 vents

i will try the sealer again but 1/2 litre of Fabsils not cured it funny thing is i have contacted Kampa a couple of times an they replied quite quickly but when i raised this with them last year they didn't respond!

When you say lift the small flap on the inside i take it you mean the black strip under the outer cover? but above the mesh window?

John

Hi John

This is the area that was leaking on my tent, you could see the beads of water forming along the stitching under the flap.
