Having got a Vango Orchy 600 tent, I wanted something smaller for weekends.

I have ordered a Vango Beta 450 tent (2010) - Does anyone know of a footprint that will fit this tent also I would like to have a tarp or side extention for cooking? Any ideas please?

I am looking forward to a lightweight tent, but does anyone know how quick the Beta takes to pitch?

Many thanks for replies in advance

PS.  I have just found and ordered on the internet  a Vango Orchy 400 footprint which will nearly fit.  It took me ages to find it but it is the closest size (I think) to the Vango Beta 450. The Beta 450 size of footprint I needed was L480xW250 the Orchy 400 is L480xW260. I will just have to put a crease down the centre length.  Still looking for an extension or similar (in case of cooking in the rain) - please has anyone got any ideas? The colour of the Vango Beta is black and green (excalibur) anything that would match that colouring please.

Hi Currysniffa,

Just got back from 2 nights camping, took the Vango Beta 450 with us.  Did have a bit of space left in our car after packing tent, equipment etc. Usually the car is busting at the seams when we take Vango Orchy 600 plus other accessories that go with that tent. It was very easy to pitch - outer tent 1st - then clip bedroom in place, the floor of the bedroom and for the living area is attached to the bedroom piece. So bedroom is completely closed in but in living area floor is separate from the outer tent. This was fine as flying insects could be completely kept out of bedroom as top of bedroom doors netted. With the living room floor not attached, the tent felt quite ventilated which is good (especially for hot weather).  I am glad I bought the Vango orchy 400 footprint because the only bit I had to tuck under was at the front where the left and right sides come in a bit. Very good fitting though.  The living area took a portaloo, washing up bowls, 3 curver boxes, 3 large stuffed carrier bags, 2 small chairs with little folding table (I had got from Millets).  The bedroom took a double blow up matress with room for bags for clothes etc. or  another blow up matress (single).  We did take a Vango adventure tarp with an extra taller pole than what the Vango Adv. Tarp came with, and used this for table, same 2 small chairs and used that for cooking - in the rain - it came in very useful, also nice to have somewhere to standup straight as the Beta 450 is not standing room height.  You can sit comfortably in the chairs in the living room though. I think my husband would still prefer to take the Orchy 600 though for his bad back, but I think the Beta 450 was a good tent for a couple of nights. Not to heavy to carry and stood up well to a wet, windy night.

Walton-on-Thames - August

Just had our first weeks camping near Padstow, as a complete pair of novices two old arthritics had the outer shell up in about 5 minutes after reading the instructions at home & never having unpacked the tent previously, used a cheap tarp as footprint before fitting the inner, brilliantly easy tent to use ideal for 2,probably a bit cramped for anymore, withstood a couple of heavy storms,if I had to buy a replacement I would happily buy one of these again, excellent value we paid £89,

Hi wrinkleygits,

Welcome to this forum.  I only joined recently and found it full of valuable information. I agree the Vango Beta 450 does pitch up quickly and seems roomier inside than what you would think from looking at the tent outside.  Ours also withstood a storm very well also.  It is amazing how many things you can get in the living area.

Happy camping.

I just use a cheap tarp as a footprint, fold it in at the narrower front end so that water doesn't collect.   I put it up myself in 15 mins and have the airbed blown up etc and completely set up within an hour.

If you store things in the porch it's worth keeping everything a few inches in from the edges as some rain may get blown in through the gap, other than that I love this tent

Found this post while searching for a side tarp for the vango beta 450.   How does the adventure tarp attach to the tent?

(I am fairly new at all this )

edit:   done a bit more googling, and I don't think the vango adv tarp will go over a side door. Another post says it doesn't really do well at the front end of the tent either.   Will scout about a bit more for ideas.

Hi Silvers,

The adventure tarp wasn't actually attached to the Beta 450, but it was great for cooking in the rain also to have cover whilst sitting outside in not too brilliant weather. We used a King Pole at the wider end of the tarp positioned so that it was very close to the door (which is at the side) and a shorter pole on the opposite stretchy side - so that when it rained it poured off furthest away from the tent. I sorry if I hav'nt explained this very well - I would put a photo of the set up if I could work it out.

ok, I see what you mean.   It would be nice to have a picture but your explanation is clear to me.

Posting pictures.    It may be something to do with the hyperlink symbol at the top, fourth from left, and then the pic would have to be from the internet, so your pic would have to be on picasa or flickr or something. I've got mine on picasa, very good storage it is.

I'm keen to see what options are available for my new Vango Beta 350XL in the way of tarps?

Having tried the tent for the 1st time this weekend a little extra covered space would have been nice to cover up one door so I could open it in the rain?

Is there a tarp I can fix to the tent?
