Hi all,
I am new here, so apologies if i am in the wrong forum!
We want to take our 4 year old son camping, and have spent ages online looking at tents... but there are so many!
I have been looking at 6 person tent, for the extra storage room etc.. but can anyone please recomend one, preferably not too expensive?
Many thanks indeed :)

Hi

Any of the Vango tunnel style tents would be ideal for getting started.

Easy to put up - lots of space. Not too expensive.

Take a look at either Tigris (400 or 600), Icaris or Nevis.

Lots of good offers on at the moment on these tents and you really cant go wrong with them

Hope that helps

An excellent tent for the money and still a few about (we are a family of 3): Vango Columbia 600, 5000HH, steel poles, SIG, 2/3 bedrooms (we use one for storage), large open living space with windows, enclosed wet weather side entrance for boots, balls and toilet, full or part opening front, Vango's TBSII internal strapping system which you clip in place for even more stability in windy weather. The tent was Vango's version of the popular Montana last year, in their premium range. An incredible spec and performance for £280 (RRP £450 last year).

For footprint groundsheet, carpet and awning (sage coloured) use the ones for the 2010 Sungari 600 (they fit as the tent is the same shape).

We love ours and comparing it with the Monty it wins hands down for us in design... a bargain price too!

See the tent reviews and also Vango's pitching video on YouTube for shots of the tent.

Helen

I would second the Vango Icarus 600, plus the sun canopy.

The tent has three poles, all the same length so no colour coding (idiot proof is what I'm saying but that is in no way an accusation lol), it's got good standing height throughout, it has mesh on the side door if you get attacked by killer midges, and it has that all important sun canopy. If you get the slightly smaller one (the 500 - see my gallery) you can get the premium extension, which is the same as the sun canopy only with a front door. Sadly they don't do this for the 600.

To be honest for anything more than 2 people you'll probably want the 600.

Oh and it's quite cheap. The sun canopy is purchased seperately. It makes the tent though.

Bad points of this tent:

It only has a tie up curtain to divide the sleeping space, not seperate pods.

It hasn't got that very useful mesh on the front door, only the side.

We found that the curtain divide in the sleeping pod was ideal for us and the kids. We've got the Tigris 400 and the arrangements are almost identical to the Icarus.

It meant that our daughter could have her "own bedroom" (separated from us by the curtain) but that we could still reach her for her reassurance without having to come out of one pod via a zipped door and then into another.

This would probably be an ideal arrangement for your four year old who I imagine you wouldn't want to be in a sleeping pod on his own.
