Am getting stocked up ready to embark on our new camping career next spring. Have decided that the Gelert Horizon 8 or the Sunncamp Shadow 800 tick all the boxes. Question is to you experts is do I buy at end of this season in the sales or wait until early next year for the 2011 models. How much do the models alter each year. I noticed that the suncamp suddenly grew an eyebrow porch over one door this year. Are suncamp or gelert likely to add extra goodies to these models for next year. Also tent suppliers all have tents at well below rrp.Not advertised as being in a sale. Does this mean that if I wait for the 2011 model the likelyhood is that the price won't be any higher than now.

Something to make you smile, as above we have no tent at present but wifey has already purchased a stove, folding kitchen, melamine picnic set and some folding chairs. Think she's keen.

I would buy now. There might be a few differences on the 2011 model but would those changes be enough to justify the higher price tag? I doubt it

Bought my Horizon 6 in the sales this July getting a 50% discount (£150 from B&Q). Minor revisions / improvements won't be worth paying double for. IMO buy now at a keen price.

There are rumours of quite large price hikes for next year (15 - 25% has been mentioned) plus, of course, an increase in VAT is on the way.

I would buy now. I started looking a month ago and the Kalahari 10 plus footprint, porch and carpet was £589.

We waited for the sales and have just picked the lot up (completed the set today by getting the porch) for £310, saving £279.

No minor modification justifies paying that much more! Plus as mentioned VAT goes up in January.
