Hi,
We have just returned from 8 nights camping in Wales. Before we went wee did not get chance to weather our new Bear Lake 6. It has had a baptism of fire in the amount of rain and wind thrown at it.
We were very impressed as we were expecting some water to get in s we had not weathered it. However the only water that came in was as follows:
- A small amount from one of the velcro curtain tabs on the front left (when stoiod facing the front of the tent) hand window (it had actually collected inside the curtain so as I undid it we had a small collection of water on the curtain which we found are also waterproof even though of a differnt feel material to the flysheet) This was after about 12 hours of solid rain, when it had dried out briefly no more came through.
- A small drip on a seam near the bottom of where the lighting runs up to the top of the tent. Nothing of note just the occasional teardrop appearing, again sealeditself after drying out.
- A veru small occasional drip on a seam to the bottom left of the right hand door (when stood facing the front of the tent).
So our experience with the Bear Lake 6 (by accident as we did not get chance to weather it) was that ours did not need weathering. Considering the amount of rain we had we are extremely pleaed as apart from the above it was completely bone dry.
That is just our experience and may be we were lucky. We had intended to weather it and were advised to do so by our supplier but did not get chance. You will have to make your own mind up.
Cheers,
David
