We were given a very large tent which has done the job on 3 longer camping trips this season. We have been bitten by the camping bug and want to squeeze in some September, possibly early October weekend breaks. As such, we want to invest in a smaller tent that is easier to pitch.
We are a family of 4 - myself, hubbie and my 2 boys aged 5 and 2.
The tent would pretty much only be used 2 nights (3 max) and would probably be doing 8 trips a year. I am after something that will last us a couple of years. We need something with 2 sleep pods and enough indoor space to accommodate a table and chairs, preferably with a corner for the boys to play cars, connect 4 etc if need be. Some sort of removable canopy or extension would be great, so we can cook and sit outdoors to eat if it is raining.
I have been looking at the outwell nevada M, which seems to tick lots of boxes. Reviews seem reasonable. Can get kitted out with tent, extension and carpet (thinking of October here lol!) for £340 - which is actually £40 over budget but hey ho!! Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on any potential alternatives to consider as my head is spinning with tents at the moment!!

You could also consider the Vango Tigris 6. I think the Tigris 4 might be a bit small for your needs although it's a fab little tent and goes up so easily.
Have you looked at the Outwell Virginia 5 or for a longer term investment (as it has a 100 denier flysheet, which will outlast potentially double the 75 denier flysheets of other makes) have a look at Kampa's Frinton 4 (with optional canopy) or other tents in their Ultimate range (distinquished by the terms "feel the difference" 100D 4000HH flysheet). This range has a very high spec for a very reasonable price. Kampa are a low volume manufacturer that is really making inroads into the top end of the market.
We are a family of the same size of yourself and we purchased a coleman pamandi 4 which comes with an extra large canopy. sadly we have just purchased a puppy and had to change tent again so we can accomodate his crate, so we have a used once coleman pamandi for sale at £85 with 11 months gaurentee still on it.
we found it a great weekend tent and the extra large canopy means you can keep most of you gear outside leaving more room inside for tv watching or your games area.
HTH.

There is always the vango icarus 400/500/600 which i have just purchased with the extention canopy but being entirely honest i wouldnt reccomend it as i have had to replace mine within a few days and the replacement was just as bad as the first for quality of finish
I have the outwell Nevada 4 which is a smidge smaller than the M. I bought a bigger one for the longer breaks but this does well for a weekender. I seen one on e-bay recently and it went for just over a hundred quid (I paid £230 for mine) so If you can get one youre on to a bargain. ;-) It was lovely and cosy for my dh and I and the 2 girls (9 and 5 )
