I have just got back from Go Outdoors in Stockport and they had 3 Montana 6 tents that had been returned due to minor faults and were on sale at a 'knock down price'. I spoke to one of the assistants and he said that apart from the faults they were in excellent condition. I took pictures of the tags so I could post the info on here. What follows is exactly what was written on the tags:
Tent 1:
As new pitched once; Front right window has been stitched all the way round instead of vented - £199 with discount card.
Tent 2:
Small rip in groundsheet - tent as in new condition - £220 with discount card.
Tent 3:
Pitched once; poles used previously rip on front pole sleeve - easily repairable - £149 with discount card.
I was tempted by the £149 tent (just because I resist a bargain), but luckily I had my mother with me and she dragged me away before I bought a tent I would probably never use! The guy said the rip was small and was on top of the pole sleeve as opposed to it being on the seam – he reckoned it would be about £30 at the most to repair – not sure where he pulled that one from.
Anyway, I left them behind at about 3:30pm – if you don’t live within travelling distance of Stockport, but are interested then their phone number is 0845 112 0136
May as well add the address whilst I’m at it:

Seems strange they are selling faulty Montana 6 as i believe the retailers normally send faulty tents back to Outwell who then give them credit for the cost of the tent.
I know of someone selling a Monty 6 etc
It's in Lincolnshire
It's not me

You would have thought so Outed, but the guy who I was talking to said it was the first time they had done this as they usually just bin them Those were his exact words...we usually bin them - I nearly fell over. I didn't think at the time to ask him why they didn't return them, but I think it says a lot about their mark up if it's not worth their while.
I will have to ask them about this next time I’m in there – it is an interesting point.
