Hello everyone

We (me, wife, daughter 11 and son's 9 and 2) are first timers to this camping malarky!!

We have just purchased a Hi-Gear Sahara 6 from Go Outdoors and made a lengthy attempt to set up/pack away in our garden yesterday without much success.

We go away next week just for 2 nights (not sure little one will take to it) and now im feeling a little worries about erecting the tent.

Can anyone shed any sound advice or wonder tips to assist me with the task in hand? Or simply tips in general with regards to camping?

Be an idea you want your first trip to be something to remember as the rest of the family may not be to keen to go again. saying that i'm yet to see a child that dont like the outdoor world

We have this tent and have just returned from our first outing, have to say its not the easiest of tents to set up! Have you read the reviews on this site? There are some good pointers there; helped me when we put the tent up in the garden. What questions did you have?

Have to say the tent stood up well to the weather - it absolutely poured down!

MrsGlas - Did you manage to get the tent back in its bag and if so, how?

How long did it take to erect and how many people to do so?

Did it fit on the allocated pitch with no issues?

Hiya,

yes we can get it back in the bag, keep the door open, fold the pods in to the middle, keeping the door to one end, then fold in again so it's roughly the size of the bag and roll it towards the door. It takes several attempts!

Probably took 2 of us 1 and a half hrs to put up but it's still early days with a new tent!

We have only taken it to one site so far an had no issues but we could pitch anywhere on the site so size wasn't an issue.
