The law states that the consumer has up to 6 years [5 in scotland] to claim that goods were faulty at point of purchase, however after a period of 6 months it would be down to the consumer to prove this, up to 6 months it is down to the retailer to prove otherwise.
However Go may well want to send the tent back to the manufacturer for testing on a hydrostatic head tester to make sure what you say is correct. They are well entitled to do this. However the they say the tent is out of warrenty. this does not overule statutary law as described above.

Good news... I wrote to the customer services department and they told me to take it back to the store and they would get it checked out... so Saturday, its all booked in for a review... when I spoke to them, they said that if they found fault, they would need to get in touch direct with Hi Gear who may also want to review the tent... so, stage 1 started at least....!!
