Hi

Would like to call on you all for some advice, we are after a new tent and can't decide which to go for we are a family of 5 (twin boys 8 and girl 3), we are looking for a large tent which we will use for trips of between 3-7 nights.

I really like the Kampa filey 6 i think the set up is good and i really like the bit that sticks out at the side for putting all your bags in, and the fact that you can at a later date get another bedroom that fits in the living area,  but am put off as our last tent was a Kampa Lulworth 6 and we had to return it due to horrendous leaking I have read reviews and this doesn't seem to be an issue with other Kampa's but it is in the back of my mind. Also the price we would want to buy the vestibule as well so this would take us over the Vermont L.

Now to the Outwells I really like the attached front closing canopy but don't know which size I would go for I like the three bedrooms in the xl but it does look a monster compared to the L which isn't that much smaller but seems to look less huge if you know what i mean. Also is it difficult to get on sites with the xl it is definately the size that puts me off, but i'm thinking as the kids get older would i be better going for the bigger one now as we definately want this tent to last.

Also considered the Vango Maritsa 700 but after seeing reviews thought one leaky tent was enough.

Any thoughts greatfully relieved, as this is taking up far too much of my time i'm beginning to loose days not hours on the internet researching aagh.

I do like the Kampa Filey over any tent from any other manufacturer if only because it has the 100d material. That is 25% thicker then any other manufacturer including Outwell. Add to this the sleeptight system they have so you don't get woken up in the morning would make it a definite tent I will be looking at next.
I notice it also has the aluminium poles which can only make getting them in and out of the car easier : )
Saw it in Blackpool for £399.99 the other day with £69.99 for a vestible. That seemed a good deal to me.

Hi

Thanks for reply is that Kool camping in Blackpool i've never been but have seen it mentioned on here, that is a good deal as i hadn't seen it reduced anywhere on the web.

We are in west Yorkshire so only about an hour and a half away (well not on a bank holiday weekend) so might have to head over, thats great thanks for letting me know.

Spot on - although I think it's even better than that! 33% thicker thread, i.e. 100D as oppposed to 75D
. That's a great price for a quality tent.

Have you considered cotton/polycotton tents?

I'd definitely agree with you there. I think the polycotton tents work out approximately 25% bigger and heavier than an equivalent polyester tent.

If you're wanting polyester I don't think you going to get much better than the Filey.
