Hi everyone, we are new here.

We have just have to return our Vango as it ripped. Now we are looking for a good quality, and a bigger tent, we have looked at the Outwell Hartford XL and the Ohio Xl and like them, but was just wondering what people would recommend?

We are a family of 4 and all VERY tall. Looking for a decent amount of space n possibly somewhere to cook etc.

Lovely tents you have mentioned but just a word of warning that tents over 5m or those which are X or Y shaped can have problems getting onto sites due to their large footprints. Some sites just won't accept them at all, other will charge extra and some will charge for 2 pitches!
There are sites that accept very large tents but you may find your choice is more limited - just something to think about!

We have the Khyam Ontario 8 which is a lovely, spacious tent with 225cm standing height throughout.
3 large bedroom pods (2+2+4) which can accommodate 8 x 75cm wide airbeds, large living area (3.7m x 3.2m), good ventilation, large windows, cable entry points, lantern hooks, SIG (sewn in groundsheet), 5000HH rating, very easy to pitch.

I wouldn't recommend ever cooing inside a synthetic tent due to the possible fire risk and increased condensation caused.
Some people cook under a canopy or even better, invest in a proper utility tent which can be pitched away from your main tent.

A large tent may only have small sleeping pods, ie 2.1mtres. I'm 6ft3" & I would not consider a tent with a sleeping compartment less than 2.4mtres in one direction.

Hi

Thankyou for your replies.

I was meaning a porch etc to cook under perhaps, we may invest in a day tent later down the line, but not been doing a lot of cooking.

We have a Royal Bordeaux 6, which has 2 good sized bedrooms and a canopy for cooking under. It is about 7m by 4m and we can walk around inside in comfort. It is not of the same quality as an Outwell but is much cheaper to buy. It has plenty of windows for light and decent ventilation.

We bought it to have some comfort in the rain and room for our boy to play. We can stretch comfortably without touching the ceiling (although we're not as tall as you).

We are a family of three with three dogs and love the tent.
