The khyam is £299 hh 5000, the kalahari  hh 3000 .same price including additional canopy. Which one is best as this site  reviews speak highly of th hi gear kalahari (go outdoors) waterproofness and you get a porch too, (we have four kids aged 13-5) and any extra space is wellcome, however I do wonder why it is only £200 without canopy(£99 extra with). The Kyham does not have a extra canopy so which would be the better investment as we do not have loads  of money to change tent often!!

It seems both would fit on many standard pitches but we go for ehu one s anyhow.

Any advice would be great as we are fairly new to family camping!

Have not seen 2010 Khyam range in person but when looking last year, it went down to Meridian (Gelert brand name for Kalahari) and smaller 8 man Quebec (now XC) and there was no contest Quebec won, and very happy with it post use, in some pretty ropey winds and a lot of rain.

It has steel uprights unlike Kalahari and 2010 model has built in porch.
