hi camping virgin needs advice !
went camping last week for first time and used coleman 2 man tent as the plan was 2 camp by bike in future.
knowing the OH as i do, I know 99% of the time we will end up in the car so I have decided to purchase a tent with enough headroom to stand up in (6'2) wifes ok she could stand up in the 2 man hehe .
there will be just 2 of us but want a good area to chill out in if its raining plus our grown up children may occasionally decide to invade so need a 4 man minimum and have narrowed it down to these 3 .
I know the vango is popular and has canopies available but for some reason i'm pulled towards the other 2, but not sure how well gelert or aztecs tents compare quality wise
any advice greatly appreciated :)

We love our Lakesbury and I fell for it straight away when I viewed one at a tent exhibition - somehow the very similar other models did not attract me in the same way (call it female sentiment!) It is well made and roomy for when there is just 2 of us but with our teenage son it feels much more crowded. It does not have a window and this can be a problem for some, but we do not spend long spells of time in the tent except for sleeping so the lack of a window is not an issue for us.
We have had no problems in wet weather and I would recommend to anyone, I would however suggest that it maybe cramped with more adults in it.
thanks country girl , The window wouldn't bother me and i think i could palm the kids off into the 2 berth :)
yes bronco i like the nevada but over my budget as i gotta get other equipment . the carolina is nice but looks like the headroom is restricted by the slope at the front

When you say 'Gelert Galeria', do you mean 'Aztec Galeria'? I don't know of a Gelert tent of that name, though there might be one.
We have an Aztec Galeria, and can't find a bad word to say about it. It's a lovely tent, and ticks all our boxes. Lots of living space, ample room for four in the two bedroom pods, doors and porches on three sides, windows everywhere... it's not too difficult to put up, and I think you should be able to stand up in it. My son-in-law is 6ft. 4, and I've never noticed him ducking inside the tent.
FoO

I know I'm going to sound biaised, but how about the Vango Diablo 600 (or 400 come to that)? Enough space for 4 with two seperate bedroom pods, and you wouldn't need to buy a seperate canopy as already has a porch area. Walk in height all the way through apart from bedroom pods (the XP versions might be walk in-but we don;t have that model!).
You can pick up barely used second hand ones quite easily and for a good price.
I kow what you mean with the tentitis! Have just been researching tents for my sister! Good luck with what ever you go with!
Ok well I got so fed up at looking that I ordered one which means all tents will be reduced by another 40% tomorrow lol
I went for the aztec galeria as the living area appealed , even though I found an icarus 500 for sale at lockwoods for 99.99
More than anything I was so bothered by the fact I couldn't find a single video review or many different pics that I decidedh I would do my bit for the community :-)
Tentitus is terrible, I will have to take OH away this weekend to make up for ignoring her so much lol . Oh well might as go camping ;-)
The Vango Amazon 600 is worth a look - very strudy... so no problems in the worst weather conditions. The enclosed canopy on the latest 2010 model is a really good improvement.
We love ours - although of course we're biased!
