There's a few you could use;

a couple of half hitches for a quick one.

a reef knot

tie a loop on the end of the line and thread the loose end through it.

I use a loop created by figure 8 (overhand is ok too but not quite so strong, climbers habit) the guy line can then be looped through the canvas loop (larks head style) - so removal is easy if you ever need to

do same on my Tarp now too - very strong, quick and easy to tie, quick and easy to change

I use plated steel ones, from my local cheap shop. I think they cost less than £4 for about thirty. It was two packets. If they do start to rust, I will replace them.
