Damn it all, am thinking of pushing the boat out and buying the Cabanon Noumea, even though I almost need a second mortgage to afford it!

So I just need to pick your brains a little more since you are a proud owner of this little beauty.

The tent weighs 17kg -   does this weight include or exclude the poles.   Also, is it an-all-in one tent when you pitch it , or is the inner put up after the canvas is erected?      I’m assuming that it is not like the ESVO Kansas – their translated blurb suggests the inner is a roll up curtain – interesting as the tent weighs less than the Dakota which is not as wide and has no SIG.

Next week, I’m travelling down to Englandshire to visit my son in Cambridge. However my sister in law leaves very very near Attwools, so a small detour will be made en route. They have a Guadeloupe on display, so hopefully this will give me a clearer picture of the Noumea.

Thanks for any words of wisdom – and no suggesting buying the Guadeloupe as this would definitely challenge my aching back!!!.

I'm not Merry (well, not by name anyway) but I do know that the Noumea, like the Guadeloupe, doesn't have an inner tent. Instead, it has a dividing curtain which is permanently attached to the flysheet, which has a zip down the middle and which can be tied back as and when required.

A tent weight includes poles , canvas and bedrooms if it has them.

The Esvo Kansas and Dakota are botht he same size and the same canvas. The weight difference is because the Kansas has a sig and seperatiewand (dividing curtain to form bedroom) and the Dakota has no sig but does have a bedroom pod.

Not sure about the Noumea having an inner or not but at least I cleared up the Esvo thing :)

I have a Cabanon Noumea, it is a beauty of a tent. The weight includes the poles, which I carry in a separate bag. It is an all in one tent, with an inner dividing curtain.
I can erect mine very easily all on my own, and I am a 65 years old/young woman.

Just to add, that my tent has no zip on the dividing curtain, just the ties. It has a SIG so no bugs or creepy crawlies can get in during the night. lol.

Hi. The Noumea is a great little tent, everytime I use it I fall in love with it all over again. Lol.

I believe the weight is the total of tent + poles + pegs. My pegs always live separately, and I have no problem lifting the tent + poles in one bag in and out of the car. Those are the only two times when the weight of the tent is relavent as you don't have to lift it in any sense to put it up. The centre pole pushes up the fly, which is an easy action, while the weight of the sig just stays on the ground.

For this reason I think there would be very little difference in the effort required to put up a Guadeloupe or a Noumea, apart from a few extra pegs on the bigger tent.

Neither the Noumea nor the Guadeloupe have a conventional inner tent. The inside of the tent is divided into front/living and back/sleeping halves by a curtain which zips down the middle, or can be opened up and tied back during the day to maximise living space.

The Noumea is very pretty, super speedy to put up and is remarkably comfy and tardis like for a small tent, but it is very small. Its footprint is less than many little 2/3-man festival dome tents! The Noumea is quite brilliant for shorter trips but I am lucky enough to have other tents I can use if I'm going to be away longer.

If this is going to be your only tent and/or you want to use it for longer trips, you might want to reconsider the Guadeloupe or a Hypercamp Rosas.

And I'm impressed that you think Attwools is a small detour from Cambridge!

Hope that helps, please ask if you have any other queries.
