Hi! Newbie on here, but after spending weeks trawling the site comparing tents we finally decided on a Kampa Filey 6. I just wanted to share with those that might be doing the same the bargain we've just bought.
We've managed to buy a 'possible' seconds tent from peak-outdoors.co.uk for the amazing price of £309.99!! The very friendly lady in the shop (local to us) said that there was a 1 in 4 chance of possibly having some cosmetic damage on the roof (possible colour transfer). So for a good £340 off RRP for a possibilty of a funny colour on the roof, but otherwise perfect tent we feel we've done well and wanted to share this with others too!
Will post again, once it stops raining and we can erect the tent to confirm whether ours is a cosmetically damaged one or not!
Hope someone else makes use of this bargian too!

Yeah, we got the Filey 6 and vestibule too - love it, I'm sure even if there is some cosmetic damage on it you'll love it! I'm gutted that we didn't get such a bargain - what a result! :-)

Nice day today, so OH coming home a little early to erect tent.. I can't possibly do it on my own, I'm 38 weeks pregnant! So will get photos and post them later.
Hi!! Tent now up.. had to look VERY closely for the discolouration but we did find it. I can only explain it by saying they must have folded the tents up too quickly and some of the blue has transferred onto the white central portion of the roof. It is only visible from the inside and you have to look very closely to see it. SO, we're very pleased indeed with our purchase! Have added 3 images to my profile, the second being the one showing the damage - look carefully and you'll see the blue on the right by the guy rope that's resting on top.

Congrats on being the proud owner of the Filey 6. We brought a second hand one (never used) for £300. We used it for our summer holiday and was over the moon with it...loads of space even with 3 children! We brought the vestibule which was invaluable with bad weather for most of our hols.
Hope you have many happy holidays in your new tent

Thanks for the post. Bought one myself this morning for the same price and free delivery. Hope mine is in as good nick as the one you got. Still seems to be availability through the peak outdoors website as well as through eBay. Saw the tent up yesterday and was very taken by the space and flexibility. Fingers crossed....
Fantastic news! Hope it's as good as ours.. we really had to look for the cosmetic 'damage'. Keep us posted! We're trying to get a ground sheet and vestibule now, but no-one's got them in stock, looks like we'll have to wait for next season..
Just put up the Filey 6 in the back garden to check out any cosmetic damage. Eventually found a pale, hand sized smudge on the roof above the front door. For £309 I can live with that!! Really pleased with the tent, looks very nicely put together - cant wait for next year now to try it out properly.
This really is a great price, but the seller insists that any faults (other than the colour smudge / transfer) will have to be reported within 7 days.
The chances of me getting a dry day in the next week to pitch the tent and check for faults are pretty bleak. We both work Mon-Fri (and daylight hours diminishing)
Does anyone know if the seller can insist on this 7 day rule under Distance Selling Regulations and other Office of Fair Trading rules??
In an ideal world I'd love to snap one one of these up now and pitch it next season, but I suppose that's asking a bit too much to return it 6 months later if it turns out faulty.
If you are getting it from these people - great-outdoors*123the small print on ebay says 14 days return for any reason (subject to a possible 10% charge - although if there were faults I would have hoped for some latitude here). If you've asked them for terms and they've said 7 days, you could get back to them and explain that you would like to use their 14 day terms.
I would always check out a tent as soon as you get it anyway ... but 14 days would give you a weekend or 2. If its wet, you'll just have to dry the tent and yourselves out afterwards, but at least you'll know its OK.
