Hi, we're seriously considering taking the plunge and getting a BL4, just wondered if you BL owners could help answer a few questions??

1.Is it a pain to put up/take down and worth doing for a weekend? Not sure I want the hassle of buying another tent simply for weekends. We previously had an Aspen which was a nightmare tbh.

2.Does it take long to dry? Just thinking of morning dew/mist and thinking we might be putting it away wet all the time?

3. Do you think £550 is a good price?

Any other thoughts greatly appreciated.

we think it is worth it for the weekend, due to the comfort level and the fact that I can actually sleep instead of lying awake worrying that the tent is going to blow away!

I always get my tent out when I get home and lay it out for a week, just to be on the safe side, the only issue is having the space to do this!

fantastic price...Yeomans by any chance???

We have a WL5, which is probably about the same in terms of pitch time. With the two of us, after having chosen the footprint location, getting from the bags to an erected tent (ZIGless) is pretty quick, maybe 20 minutes. Then I continue with the pegging out while my OH puts the ZIG in, hangs the bedrooms, sorts the beds out, etc. I would say we're all done and dusted, sat down and relaxing in a little over an hour.

The main canvas dries quickly in the sunshine, but if it's been really wet then the parts near the ground (e.g. the straps that go underneath the ZIG) will need to be dried after taking it down.

If you leave the ZIG/bedrooms attached then pitching is a few minutes quicker.

Price? It looks pretty good - I don't think I've seen it cheaper all summer, although the BL6 has often been gettable for £600 or so.

Good luck

Thanks for that, I think the BL6 can be had for a good price but it's just us + dog so 4 will be fine. I think the 6 might mean we end up with tent 2 for weekends. After the huge expanse of the Aspen I also like 'cosy' (but not cramped!).

Pitching time sounds good, does the ZIG go on easily enough and does it run the full length of the tent?

Thanks

I think thr BL4 has the same 3 zip ZIG configuration as the WL5. The ZIG goes around the full circumference of the tent including the door, and after we got the knack of the chunky zips, we've found it to be quick and easy to do. From the bag to zipped in I'd say about 5+ minutes of brisk effort and you're done. The BL4 will be a bit quicker and easier than ours. Make sure you get it the right way round though or it'll take twice as long to sort out.

1. Just about short enough for a weekend, wouldn't overnight with it though.

2. Like all cotton tents dries quickly in the sun but you need to pay attention to localised damp areas.

3. Damn you Yoemans!!!!!

Hi,

we have the BL6,used it for the first time in September.

It is easy enough to put up/take down, although very heavy. The ZIG weighs 13kg alone.

We have decided to only use it for 7 nights or more camps, less than that we will use our SV6.

We paid £597 for our SV6,so £550 for the BL4 is ok-ish

We are really pleased with it,stood up to a lot of rain..not a drop entered and also 30mph winds with no problems.

Sorry, just me being flippantly over the top at the end of season price reduction.

Bought ours from Yoemans in August for £700.   We've had some great hols in it though. A superb tent.

The BL4 is a great tent, & OK for week end breaks, this time of year its quite warm inside, we use a 1Kw oil rad in the sleeping pod, keeps the condensation down on the inside of the tent, go for it...join the BL club.
