I plan to do the restoration this weekend as it's due to be wet both Saturday and Sunday and I want to give this tent a good stretching out.
Poles are all straightened out now. Was easy in the end after all that worrying about it. They do have a residue all over them, I take it this is some sort of corrosion of the aluminium.
Got a 'spud' bag to hold the poles, but it's not big enough. Am thinking of asking the local coal merchant if I can buy a clean bag off them.

In the end, despite the forecast - it didn't rain AT ALL!! Typical!
Discovered a couple of poles still need straightening out. I did a couple of minor repairs and added door toggles to the zips. I also restrung the curtains and hung them.
Ha!!! I have the same tent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought in 1975 and used many times. I had it re waterproofed about 5 years ago but havent used since. Oh the memories of those gorgeous curtains! and the fringe on the porch thing outside. I actually changed the curtains and made new ones, but it is exactly the same as pics u have. I am now despartately trying to get hubby to go camping again, but the old back now wants a proper mattress in the tent and so I am having a battle.
thanks for showing the tent, amazing, on ebay frame tents are still sought after, dont think I can part with mine now. MY jute bag also perished for the poles, so the sacks are a good idea. Also the original canvas bag ripped and so I made another a bit bigger than the original, you can never fold it up to the same size it came out of the bag and so there is a little more room now.
ABSOLUTLY LOVE THE TENT ITS SO COOL why dont they make em like this no more i have a big propper tent simillar to this but more modern its a cabanon and love it i went to a camping shop today had a look at the display tents and i thought they were all flimsy looking rubish im not going to name them because i will offend a lot of people on here yours at 36 years old just goes to show that you cant beat quality cotton canvas tents i wonder how many of the £600 pounds pluss polyester tents will be about in 36 years from now i dont know why people rather than spend a fortune on a shell suit you can sleep in dont spend £100 on asecond hand frame tent of ebay mind you thats my two peneths worth and whos to say im right each to thier own

Cheers Karen
I used to hate the curtains but I think they're pretty retro now! I'm delighted that there is one other person in the country with this tent - we're in a very exclusive group you know!
I think it's so cool how you post something in the internet and a relative arrives on the scene with lots of great information. When this tent is 40 I'm going to hold a party in it.
