I have just been lucky enough to purchase a wolf lake 7. When I bought my Hartford XL last year I was recommended to waterproof the seams. Is this the same with a poly cotton tent, if so what is the recommended product to use. Somebody has just recommended that I hose it. What is the best solution. Am I better doing it now or next year pre season ?
Thanks for responses.

Sorry but whoever told you to waterproof your Hartford told you wrong. There was no need to do that tent and no need to do the wolf lake either.

If is is second hand and  has already been wet at some point, it should be weathered and ready to use. If it has never been wet then the first time it does make aquaintence with the rain, there may be some misting inside but after that, totally waterproof .

Hi,

Re Outwell Hartford....this is a polyester(nylon)tent, and sealing the seams is only required if you find any leaks.
This is done by buying a tube of seam sealer and applying to the offending seams(internally, not externally)

Re Wolflake......this is polycotton and as Angie has stated doesn't need any seam sealer,or waterproofing agent.
If it is a new purchase it will need to be weathered.
As an example,we bought our new Bearlake in August and it didn't get any rain on it till we went camping. It never let a drop in.
If you feel so inclined you can pitch it at home and give it a good soaking with a hose pipe to simulate the weathering process.
If it is second hand, then it should have already gone through the weathering process.
