Finally, got pics together. I have put an album online with a collection of photos of the tent when I took it out of my parents loft in the summer. It's in a really good state but there are pics of the odd weaker spots too.
There are lots of curtains (orange) and plastic floral kitchen curtains. All tent poles are marked up with labels written by my dad saying where they connect to!

I'd love to know your thoughts,
Happy looking and do let me know if you have any questions or would like to see it for real.
We have an orange and brown canvas tent for sale cheap if you are prepared to collect. It is a 4 berth Trio frame tent, it's elderly, in fact it is about 30 yrs old, but the canvas is in good nick and not too faded, and the inner bedroom tent has a built in plastic groundsheet. I don't know why we still have it really, apart from the fact that we loved it, as we have had one nylon tent, two folding campers and four caravans since we stopped using it!!! I cannot put a picture on here as not technically up to it!!! Besides I do not have a scanner to get a pic from the old photo album of a holiday when we used her.
Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread offering help and advice.
I'm please to report that my search is over. I managed to get a 40 year old Raclet in orange/brown/beige that is in excellent condition. Not had a chance to put it up yet but seller assured me all bits were there. I've seen a recent photo and it's perfect, exactly what I was looking for!
I cannot wait until next year to finally get all my original retro 70's gear out for the first time
My husband on the other hand is a little less enthusiastic........He thinks people will pity us and think we've made do with hand me downs because we can't afford new modern gear Little will they know how hard i've been working to source these retro treasures......
No I don't think you'll be pitied on site for having handmedowns....in fact I hope you're social people because you're going to be the envy of the campsite, and a real talking point.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Remember Retro is the new black!!.... As victoria says, i'm pretty sure you will only get attention from other retro addicts (most of us on this site!!) and am pretty sure that your set up will be a real talking point... Get ready for lots of "grand tours" LOL
It just goes to show that all good things come to those who wait!
Thanks victoria1 and 3madboyz. It's so nice to come on this website and get some encouragement from like minded people. Everyone I know can't understand my passion for retro camping and definately can't understand the need for more than one tent and the desire to kit each tent out with it's own (matching!) stuff. They all think i'm barking mad.....
I hope when we do go away, I will meet a few folk who will appreciate what i'm trying to achieve. We are very friendly sociable people so anyone wanting a nose will be more than welcome.
Anyway, talking of going away, i'm just off to book a trip to Fforest Fields. Now that's definately something to get excited about
I LOVE retro camping but sadly many of the bargains to be had seem to be either too far away or the wrong colour!!!
I too have an obsession with colour co-ordinating our tents and gear (just ask our camping buddies LOL) and am proud of the fact that we have different gear for different tents...It's my money, I earn it and i'll spend it how I want! (thats my excuse anyway).....
Even before I was "into" retro, the funky coloured canvas frame tents always caught my eye and often wondered what they looked like inside... I now own a couple of (what I would call) retro tents myself, so I don't need to wonder anymore
When are you off to Fforest Fields?, we are still contemplating our main holiday and it looks like we may end up there again for the 3rd year running (we love it that much!)
It too will be our 3rd year at Fforest Fields. We tend to go away for the Whitsun week at the end of May and we always have a great time. FF is without doubt my all time favourite campsite. I'm just waiting for confirmation back from Katie as i've not long sent her my booking form. We may even go back again in the summer but as yet are undecided.
I got bitten by the "retro" bug last year when I picked up a second hand Sunncamp canvas frame tent. I decided after going away for the weekend in it that I would never go camping in a synthetic tent again (you know what I mean!) I then got given an old orange Hago kitchen stand and aquired some bright orange melaware cups and plates from my local charity shop. It went from there then. I slowly became obsessed with collecting retro camping things (most of which are orange!) and then I decided I needed an orange tent to go with it all and now i've got one! I just need to find an old windbreak to match.......
