Hello Amy.
As I stated in my earlier post, I have been to Qatar.
I did not see a Carrefour whilst there, but I did see bedouin style tents in the southern desert towards the Saudi border. They're for tourists to experience desert living.
We went dune bashing to the salt water lake area, and got bogged down twice, but locals assisted us for no reward.
My wife and I were based in Doha, and we're going there again in February 2011.
We have a contact there, so if you require some info before you go we may be able to assist.
We agree about Dubai, Abu Dhabi appeals more, and our Qatar Visa covered us for Oman, another place we'd like to go to.
Kind regards James
------------- In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.
I'm not destitute, I'm just poor.
