Hi everyone

In my new (to me) Cabanon I'm thinking of adding an extra bedroom, by not putting up the roof lining and hanging an extra awning inner at the front part of the tent. Does the lining serve any purpose other than to look nice?  I don't want to find I've caused another problem by not hanging the lining up.

Any advice and ideas would be great please

Thanks

Maria

I find one benefit of the roof lining is that (if you've got a PVC roof?), it keeps any condensation up on the roof and stops it dripping down onto you.   With additional people sleeping in the tent you may find you get some dripping but leaving a door open in the morning for a little while will clear it without any problems.

I can't see you'd have any major issues by not putting it up.

Hi

Thanks for the reply - that is what I was thinking, but as its not a PVC roof, I think I should be ok.  I've only had synthetic tents before and this being my first canvas one, wasn't sure if I'd have the condensation problem (although my last 2 synthetics have both been fully lined all the way through).

Thanks

Maria

Are you sure it's not a PVC roof? Many Cabanons have PVC roofs...

You do still get condensation in a canvas tent, it's just much less than in a plastic tent.

It's the same material on the walls as it is on the roof.  It's an old cabanon (if that makes any difference?)  I'll have to give it a try and see how we get on

The roof lining in the living area does help a bit with insulation, by trapping a layer of air, but it won't make a massive difference to leave it out and we've done so before when we've used an extra bedroom inner in the front of our old frame tent. The thing is, since that area is now bedroom anyhow, you won't miss the roof liner!

Why not cut slits in lining to feed clips through. I allways fit linings before lifting frame off its knees, no more straining to fit clips once tent is fully errect.
