At that price, I'm not surprised they're rare Main thing I've got against Oztents is that they are so dark inside.

The Oztent range is very popular here in Oz. I considered buying one a few years back until I discovered that they are now made in China and the original Aussie canvas has been replaced by a poly-cotton blend. The price of a total package, including side and front panels,a fly and a footprint places it in the outrageously expensive bracket imho.Aroun the $AU2000 mark. I have a policy of buying Australian made equipment these days,so that was the final nail in the coffin for me. Cheers Phil.

Try googling Safari Bow Tent. Now there's a tough tent that can easily take 100kph winds. They are made in South Africa.

Hi
The Jet tent range has only been launched in Australia this season and won't be arriving in the UK before March 2011. They have some advantages over the original Oztent in as much as the pack up much smaller and so may be of interest to people who cannot transport an original Oztent but are not as quite as quick to erect. We have travelled extensively with an Oztent and Foxwing and love the combination. They give you the headroom and space and having a foxwing means you can pack away completely in the dry. This was a boon this year when we travelled in Sweden and the weather was either glorious sunshine or torrential rain. The combination stood up to 55 mile an hour winds no problem at all.
I agree with what Francophile was saying about them being dark inside but I think that is an advantage as I don't always want to get up the moment dawn cracks. I don't find the darkness a problem because they have such large windows and don't get stuffy like a lot of tents.
I have given my other half advance warning that he can forget any ideas of me camping in anything other than an oztent from now on.
We got ours from
4x4overlander

If you want tents for really rough weather, then look at offerings from places like Finland and Norway, such as the lavvu/tipi tents among others. Also worth looking at canvas bell tents.

If buying UK made is a priority, then look at Albion Canvas.
