We've been using a Vango Orchy 600 for the last 3 years and its been ace but i think its about time we updated

we are quiet happy with the the living/bedroom space of the Orchy but fancy having an attached canopy/awning

We like both the Outwell Florida 5 with it's preattatched canopy and the Vango Maritsa 500 with the front porch/awning

What does anybody think

Both get good reviews on here

Would the bedroom area be big enough for folding beds - we have 2 small beds for the kids(like the £15 4 leg ones) and 2 bigger folding beds for mum + dad(like the gelert superlight) ?

If you like the Maritsa have a look at Kampa's 2011 version of it with its higher spec:

As a make it hasn't been around for many years, but over the last couple of years they have been giving Outwell (and Vango) a run for their money. They have a really good standard of waterproofing and go for quality features throughout. The staff at Kampa have worked for other companies for many years and have gained a lot of experience along the way. They also have a good reputation for caravan awnings. We are very impressed with our compact Kampa tent, which shows thought and quality materials and manufacture throughout.

Kampa use two thicknesses of flysheet - the 100D "feel the difference" flysheets that have double or more the UV life of a 75D flysheet and as with this one the standard 75D flysheet, which is the standard used by Outwell and Vango. Khyam use a 68-72D flysheet. It is estimated on here that a good 75D flysheet should last about 6 months continuous use under UV exposure (give or take).

Take a look at the reviews for the Kampa tents, they are generally very good and many people have jumped for the make this last couple of years. Having ourselves a great Vango tent (so good we have bought a second as a spare/replacement to take us through until our 4 year old leaves home), I hate to say that the Maritsa has had a few problems this past year with rain penetrating around the windows. It could have even been just a faulty batch. I'm sure they'll have fixed the problem for this year.

As both tents will be in displays this coming year (although Kampa specialise in high quality, low volume manufacture so deal only with smaller independent retailers - dealer list is on their website) you will be able to take a look at them in person. The 2011 Maritsa has a few extra features over the 2010 version, but the price hike may not warrant waiting...

Anyway - have fun choosing...

Helen
