We haven't done either but:
(1) you could die the inner tent as has been done by at least one member on the forum
(2) find some very light weight black out material, sew some toggles/velcro to the inside of the inner tent and attach it or just drape it over the roof and down the sides of the inner tent (will cut down the light apart from the front and back of the inner...
Only Outwell do a kids room and it is specific to each tent to match up with the shape of the flysheet and toggle points. It looks darker to me and you could add toggles where needed... Vango are doing darkened inners in 2011, but its not certain whether they are doing ones you could buy separately (probably not unless there is a market for them). Kampa's ultimate range tents also do darkened inners - and they do make a difference in our son's sleeping patterns...
