Hello all! Hope you might be able to help with a query about the bedroom configuration of the Kampa Filey 6 (2010). We've been going around in circles trying to choose a tent for the 4 of us (2 adults, 2 Children). Have been considering Outwell Montana 6, Outwell Vermont L and the Filey. The Filey seems to have everything we need but can't figure out if the bedrooms can be opened into one big bedroom. Phoned a couple of camping shops and one said they were 2 distinct pods and the other said they can be used as one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Lists 2 inners, backed up by floorplan on their site.
I think the confusion comes from the 2010 brouchure which shows and states you can make into one room, (floorplan shows this too) as you could with 2009 model when split was down the middle.
From loooking at reviews and photos definatley two seperate inners. As for 2011 model....
we have the montana 6 I know you can make it into one big room on the newest models and also it has all the added extras you can add which to me makes it so versatile and an added bonus we have the awning and extension we live in the awning and cook under the extension it is a monster of a set up which you can build over time hope this helps a bit sorry i cant coment on the filey it looke at a glance pretty much same set up as the montana but must admit havent looked into it that much xxx

Hi
The above floor plan is the one most retailers are using for the 2011 model...This is wrong. The 2011 model has one large inner with a zipped curtain right in the middle so you end up with two equal sleeping areas. As the above image shows you can purchase an extra two berth inner. If you type "Kampa Filey 6 Optional Two Berth Inner Tent" into google you will find the new layout. I know kampa show the above image but thats the 2010 style.

Thanks very much for all the help, looks like I need to wait for the 2011 version, was hoping to get a reduced 2010 version but we wanted an inner that can be used as one so it's no good. It's really hard trying to choose the right tent!!

Yes sunvalleysue but they are wrong...Trust me. I just spoke to kampa and they are trying to get the site updated as quickly as they can but getting the stock in etc is more of an issue. Anyway, yes the inner is a 3+3 or large 6 berth with a zipped curtain in the middle if you prefer. Ok as with most 6 berths you could not fit 6 air beds but you could fit 6 self inflating mats. I do trust you Gary
I suppose whether a tent has a 4+2 or 3+3 its down to your own personal choice. Our SV6 has 3+3 and our BL6 has 4+2..It makes no difference to us as we always have the divider rolled back.

Oh no, I'm gutted, I would have much preferred the 3+3 that opens up into one big bedroom. The 4+2 really isn't very good for what we currently want. Would have been much more useful with the 2009/11 version I wonder whether the clips are in the same places so that you can buy the inner tents to replace the 2010 versions! Very doubtful
Kathryn, we have a 2010 version and the clips definitely aren't in the same place as the 2009 version inner tent. Last year we also bought a separate 2009 inner for our 2010 tent as Kampa told our camping shop that it would be fine (we wanted the large bedroom as we have young children). When we found out that the clips didn't match up we went back to Kampa and our camping shop and they agreed between them to add some extra clips for us. So our camping shop (Campers and Leisure - very helpful) took the tent back, and their repairs shop sewed in some additional fixings for us. So now we have the option of having either one large 3+3 configuration or two separate 4+2 inners. Brilliant!! Really like the Filey 6 and would highly recommend particularly if the 2011 version now comes with the 3+3 config.
Hi Claire, I emailed Kampa after posting on this thread and they said they are not going to sell any of the 2011 bedroom inners separately so unless I can find someone that has a spare 2009 one I don't think I'll have much chance of doing the same as you. Like you, I think the one large room would be better because we have a 2 year old boy who we'd prefer to be in with us for a few years really. So, if anyone out there happens to have a spare inner tent they don't want for a Filey 6 2009 or 2011 I'd be really grateful lol!
Still think it's a great tent though and would also still highly recommend.
Hi Kathryn, yes I think we were just lucky last year that Kampa just happened to have a spare 2009 inner kicking around that we could buy. We've 3 young boys and the large bedroom was great, however as they get older we're planning on using the 4+2 and maybe even buying the additional inner that you can get to turn it into a 8-man tent.
