the ontario isn't bad but if it was for me i'd like more windows and a porch but think you can buy one, another consideration is head hight

Depending on where you go in France you could always take a long detour and go to Obelink! The tents there are much cheaper than the same here!

I'd just like to say that although the advice here is spot on regarding canvas it does not mean that you absolutely have to have canvas or polycotton for France. I went in a polyester tent which was great with the one exception being no long lie ins in the morning. I don't mind that as I'm up and away seeing the sights anyway. I found that it's so nice to have decent weather that we sit/eat/chat outside the tent anyway. I had a vis a vis tent which was particularly good because I could open out the front and back doors to let a lovely cooling breeze through.
