I've posted this on another thread but am not sure anyone will read it there so...
We have a High Gear carpet for our Nevada as they didn't have any Outwell ones in stock at the time and I didn't want to wait - I'm happy enough with the quality of it.
We've just bought a Bear Lake 6 and are struggling finding a carpet. £80 just seems so expensive (I could have another tent for that ). The High Gear Corado 6 looks a similar size to the Bear Lake so I'm thinking of going to Go to ask if I can try it out in the Bear Lake (they are usually very accommodating).
Can anyone tell me how High Gear and Outwell carpets compare? Is it worth paying the extra to get an Outwell one?
I'm not bothered about anything co-ordinating. Actually, the High Gear would probably suit us better for colour as it would then match our blue & green chairs
Thanks for the advice.
Just realised after I posted that I should have probably posted this in the equipment forum so apologies.

Hi We have a High Gear tent carpet that we used for our Nevada m, then used it for an Icarus 500 .We have now sold the Icarus but still have the carpet which we will use when we buy a new smaller tent this year.Last year we bought a Out well Nevada xl and carpet which is also good quality, but would say the High Gear one is just as good. When we looked at the Vango carpets they did not seem as good quality.Ray.

You could just measure the living area of your tent and see if it has the same dimensions as the living area in the Bear Lake 6. I would agree that £80 is a lot to spend for a tent carpet. You could look on eBay for 2nd hand tent carpets that might fit - I've seen a few on there for different tents and even universal ones.
I think I've decided to go for the High Gear carpet (assuming it fits) or the Outwell one. I'm still dithering over whether it is worth paying the extra for the Outwell carpet....(the difference could pay for a few bottles of wine!).
Although I am intrigued now what the daft suggestion was Janiebabes
Thanks again.

Have to say that I love our Hi Gear carpets. Can't say whether they're any better quality than the Outwell ones as have never used Outwell, but I was more than happy with the quality and feel of the ones we got. And maybe it's just me, but I do think with Outwell you're paying a premium for the name.....
Thanks for that Kathryn. We ended up buying the Hi Gear Corado 6 carpet as it's only 10cm narrower and 30cm longer, which I'll tuck under the bedrooms.
I looked like a bit of a nutter going in and out of loads of tents at Go feeling the carpets to see if there was any difference and, to be honest, I couldn't tell any and since I'm more than happy with the one we have and it was £26 cheaper - no brainer really
Chrisine - the carpet we have is the Hi Gear Mojave 5. It's an exact fit widthwise but not quite lengthwise. There is a gap of a few inches which you could have at the very front or in front of the bedrooms. We actually like the gap at the front as it's a perfect place to put your shoes so they aren't on the carpet.
I've realized that an Icarus 500 tent will probably work pretty well in our Vista 800 tent. It's the right width, but not sure about the length. At any rate, it should work for the middle living area.
If you're not fussed about colours, I think you can mix and match things like extensions and rugs pretty well.

Kathryn, hope you don't mind me asking - I notice you say you use (and love!) Hi Gear carpets & that you have a Kampa Filey 6. Is it this tent you use a Hi Gear carpet in? As we also have a Filey but I am struggling with the £85 cost for the matching carpet :-( Have seen the Corado 6 but can't find the dimensions of it anywhere & am wondering if that one may fit.
The whole thing's doing my head in, thought it may be worth asking in case you can help!
Many thanks
Sam

On a similar vein, also posted this in the equipment forum, but I'm looking for any make of tent carpet that will fit a space 360cm x 300cm.
Am trying to avoid paying £60 plus on the 'made for the tent' carpet and having done something similar on another tent I owned am hoping to do the same again.
So if anyone can advise on makes and models of tent (past or present) with the same or very similar sized living space, then I can hunt around for a second hand carpet or discontinued line bargains on ebay.
