Looking at Buying a Gelert Horizon 8 and just wondered if its generally going to be cheaper to buy now or do prices reduce later on nearer to summer? My guess is they will get dearer but want to try and get DH to commit now! Also dont want to miss out on stock etc.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
You wont see a difference in price now until the very end of the season. You may well start to have a problem getting the tent you want if you leave it too late though if its a popular model. In fact a retailer on here was saying that one of his suppliers are in fact not supplying their dealers with nearly enough tents for the coming year for some unknown reason ???
If it was me and you can find one and its definitely what you want then go for it now.

You will probably find a few £'s difference between retailers now,but as 2gocampin has said the bigger discounts won't really come till late summer.Usually the biggest discounts will be on tents that are being discontinued for the following year.
When we got our SV6 in Sept 2007,Outwell were bringing out a re vamped one for 2008.It was reduced from £339 to £249 by Yeomans and we also got a free carpet and footprint. This was a great deal and we are sill using/very happy with the tent.

Be warned...Shortages are going to be a problem. China is a strange place now. I know you won't believe me but staffing issues are affecting production. It was only 12-24 month ago when labour would have to travel hundreds of miles to get work in the cities but now there is enough work in the smaller towns and the big production areas are loosing the work force. There are also shortages of raw material as they are being used to build the country etc. Its not good.
Re prices of tents, the last of the 2010 models are being snapped up fast (I know) and the new stock is just arriving now but I have been told that there will be delays in stock arriving, in some cases, not at all.
Anyway, lets not panic just yet, although all it will take is another volcano to keep everyone at home and a few more job losses and everyone will be camping, then we need to panic.
Try booking a nice camp site already, there getting booked up early....
