Hi, looking for a bargain before the new season!

What do you all suggest for....a family of 5 (kids 10,7,3) who want a bit of space to spread out(teddies and lego!) and camp for up to 10d at a time (and maybe squeeze another child in?)

We want polycotton, the kampa ones seem to have good reviews and mean we won't have to spend as many pennies as on Outwell.

It's the bedroom arrangements, really - we'd want a double airbed in one and 3 singles in another, or all bundled in as a 5, don't mind really - I 've read some negative comments about how the divided space works out in the Polzeath that's making me a little reluctant to just buy it!

Thanks for any advice and suggestions!

Zenobia has a Polzeath - it's a beautiful tent. Can't comment on the bedroom pods, but there is loads of space and very well made.

Hi

Norwich camping still have 2010 Polzeaths in stock for £699 which is quite a saving on the 2011 price of £939.

The polycotton Holkham has been replaced and is now called the Filey 6 classic polycotton which is on sale for £829.99,although the do have 2010 Holkhams for £599

Don't know much about these tents but would say that for 5 of you you might find it a bit of a squeeze in a 6 berth tent.

We have the Montana 6 and there are 4 of us and it's just nice.  More so it'll be getting 3 beds in the 2nd room (though assume you can add to extra bedroom if you wanted).  Living space would be fine but I'd be very tempted to spend out the extra and go for the Polzeath at £699.  At least with the 8 berth it gives you the flexibility to take the extra one as well if you want :)  not quite as much space for the grownups though.

Hi Stargirl,

I have a polzeath, Three children 6,8,11...The sleeping pods are two separate ones at the far end consisting of a double {tight for double mattress} Then a proper double with a zipped divider with another double, Makes Sense?

At the front right you have another double again would be tight for a double mattress. You can get the dimensions from Kampa's website.

Would be a squeeze to get a double and three singles in the main pod but possible depending on the size of the beds. Cosy though!!

I will say it a fab tent. Massive inside, light in the living, dark pods so you can sleep.

Very heavy, but after two seasons consisting of 7 trips the longest 7nights its a big thumbs up from me

Simon

We have the Filey 6 which is the same as a Holkham, just not polycotton. We found that in the 2010 version which we have, you can fit a double (or two single) airbeds in each pod but there is no room either side of the double so no space for any cupboards/bags, etc. However, there is the annexe compartment, the option of a separate bedroom pod in the living area if you prefer to have that, or a huwage living space! We also got the vestibule which isn't polycotton but gave us that bit of extra covered living space should we want it. We left our kitchen/cooker in there and our table. Loads of space for 5 people then to chill out/run around in the main living space. HTH

Kathryn

I am now finding myself drawn to the Polzeath aswell! First thought an Esvo, then the hypercamp avantgarde 6. After reading though that the quality of Kampa is not being questioned and receiving good reviews I am now contemplating the Polzeath 2010 model. Is there any difference from the 2010 to 2011 model? Seem's to offer us everything as a family of 5.

The Polzeath has been replaced in 2011 with the Studland 8 Classic (same as happened with Holkham to Filey). A couple of places are advertising a PZ 2011 - but sure when there stock comes in will be changed to Studlands (unless Kampa also had a stock of PZ's which I doubt is the case, as the price is up a lot.

Other than the name the main diffrences are according to Kampa site"for 2011, the front panel features two large panoramic windows. --snip ---New for this season is the Kampa roof lining that insulates the living area."

Previously front panel had to half height mesh windows.

So the new panoramic windows and new lining will cost an extra £240 than the 2010 model, depends if you want front windows to view out of when you have the front closed up, as on a good day, you will have the front zipped out anyway. Have the same thing on the Fistral I have, bought 2010 model late last year and the new one has had same change, personally not too fussed, in principle, as other than a test pitch in autumn not used it yet.

I think Kampa tents are very good in both design and quality and will certainly take plenty of orders this year.Take note Outwell.

We have just bought Polzeath 8 2010. When hubby asked shop if worth paying extra for 2011 model he was told not really. Just need new stock in to get footprint and vestibule now.
