Hi all, at the end of last year i purchased a lakesbury 5 tent. Ive read alot of reviews about how easy it is to erect. for some reason i found it difficult to erect, it must be something im doing wrong. I followed the enclosed instrutions but didnt seem to help. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks..

Hi i to purchased the lakesbury 5 at xmas and only got the chance to pitch it last weekend, The way i did it was to peg down the rear end with a couple of pegs just to hold it i then threaded the poles through and located them onto the pins down one side only and securing them down with pegs, i then arched the poles on the oposite side and located the pins then secured down with pegs, all this is done with them flat on the ground, It is then a simple task of taking the front guy lines and pulling the whole thing into the upright position and securing the guy lines to hold it up, i was then able to reposition the poles and pegs to secure the tent. I dont know if this was the correct way because being a bloke i didnt bother with instrctions lol. I just needed to know if i could manage it on my own which i did, took about 40 mins with stopping for coffee and working things out but should half that time now. Hope this helps and hope you like your tent as much as i do mine.
My daughter bought this as a family tent and followed instructions - she doesn't usually. What a hassle! Next time she did it similar to jeff22 and no probs. Biggest difficulty was folding it back down trying to exclude air. Not sure I'd be able to to solo pitch it or I'd be using it.

I've got the Mojave 5 which I believe is the same tent but rebranded for Hi-Gear. I was a first time camper and almost single handedly erected it first time of use. Just had the 'help' of two teenagers to hold the poles up while I got them into position. However, I too am planning to use a similar method as described above (was too scared to do that last time) and am hoping I'll be able to actually do it completely on my own then. Can't wait to get it out and have a go - not long now!

Hi
I use the same method as jeff22 and find it easy to pitch any tunnel tent by this method single handed. One tip is to make sure any ajusters are slakened off on the ring and pin system before attaching the poles and close all doors to avoid overstressing the zips. With practice you should have no problems pitching this tent
Any three poled tunnel tent of this size can be put up by one person, but a second person, even a child, will make a time difference.
As arsenaldes says, first make sure the corner straps have all been loosened.
I don't peg anything down, but I do create the three 'hoops' flat on the ground. Then I stand the whole thing up, like a folded up accordion. I get someone to hold it just for a minute while I peg out the back two guy ropes. With the back hoop upright, I simply unfold the tent by walking it out, then peg out the front two guys. Only then do I go around pegging the actual tent.
