Hi all! First visit to UKCS this year and looking forward to a long season of camping ahead of us!

De Waard are slowly revealing their new family sized tunnel tent which is released on Saturday!

Looks very promising, and with the price of the 2011 Outwells it might be a serious alternative for those willing to pay a premium!

Sadly, there is only room for one DW in our household (or so I am told! ), but I am about to hit 'buy' on another chunk of Dutch canvas!

Lol! was just wondering what the heck the strange black tent was with the weird stripes - then I realised it was a 'can you tell what it is yet' pic of the new tent. Wonder how many others are thinking the same??

Will be interesting to see what it looks like when it is fully revealed!

Well we have made a big desision to sell our big Dewaard and the Cabanon Guadaloupe this year, and basically whittle down all our camping stuff to 1 tent and stuff we actually use. Out of all of our tents we love the guadaloupe, but just wish that it had a useable canopy, so we are going to buy the Stormvogel with the varioluifel etc. Its the tent that will suit us, our children have pretty much flown the nest so its just the 2 of us and 1 dog!

The new Dewaard looks very similar to the Esvo you have just bought, do you think the quality will be very different? It will be interesting to read your review!

Hi Floss... You could also consider the Papegaaiduiker offcourse ;-) Our maybe even the Goudplevier... But most people find that to small (I don't, because I only sleep in my tent)

But hey that is a little offtopic. Please find more photo's of the new tunnel here:

Wow, yes, they are very nice indeed! I don't think I've ever seen 20% of De Waard tents before. I wonder how long the offer is on for?

'6 Maart' doesn't mean 'Magazine no 6', then?!

They are simply beautiful tents.

I think if I could bear to part with all my tents and choose a single replacement, I'd like a De Waard. But, I'm nervous about doing so, because the tents I have at present all offer something a bit different and I'm confident with them all. I've admired De Wards on campsites in France, but have no experience of pitching them (and haven't even examined the quality, close up, or felt the weight).

The 20% off is a good incentive to try, but those prices are just for the basic tent, and that will shoot up when I start adding the extras (which I inevitably would!). Then the prices get a bit scarey!

Hi Erroutdoors

You get the 20% off the extras as well

Also, think im right here, you could add the inner tent later if you want - the fittings will be in the tent.

Which one do you fancy?

I like the Albatross, because of the 2m wide bedrooms! The Lepellar is a close second, but the 1.7 bedroom inners are just a bit tight (we use 2 x Thermarest Basecamp XL SIMs, side by side).

I admired the Vergrote Zilvermeeuw at a campsite in Carcassonne last year, and it's a beast, but we don't really need 3 bedrooms (is it one inner, with dividers, does anyone know?) and I don't somehow see that as an easy-pitch option!

P.S. If you add up all the bells and whistles (esp the inner tent, which I'd want), it virtually doubles the cost of the tent, which makes me a bit nervous. I know it's quality, but it would be an expensive way to learn it's not the tent for us.

Maybe I should try to pick up a good, used one, so I can test the water.

If anyone on here is selling one, just give me a shout!

My dream family tent would be the  Vergrote Zilvermeeuw because it would give us the space we need, but the Albies are by far the best looking ones, can't beat the beautiful rear on one of those beauties!! lol

Even for a tiny two man tent it's around 600 quid. For a half decent sized one it's over a thousand. With the inevitable extras it could reach a couple of grand..Out of range of my old geezer's pocket I'm afraid. For a fraction of the cost you could obtain a non-Dutch tent which doesn't have the name Oogerstraten or summat so therefore must be a load of rubbish.

If you want a second hand one then try looking here:- http://kopen.marktplaats.nl/search.php?xl=1&ds=to%3A1%3Bpu%3A0%3Bl1%3A289%3Bdi%3A%3Bpp%3A0%3Blt%3Azip%3Bsfds%3A%3Bpt%3A0%3Bmp%3Anumeric%3Bkw%3Ade%2520waard%2520albatros%3Bosi%3A2&ppu=0&p=1&ps=30

You could also look on the De Waard forum for help. Lots of very helpful people - they have even checked out tents for people in the past. Here is the link but for some reason the site isnt working today.
