I don't think anyone has had a chance to use it, yet, if it's a 2011 innovation. But, it may be worthwhile. I can only imagine camping in the Highlands in June, with the sun up at 3am. I can wear a sleep mask, but I'm not sure I can get my kids to wear them and they'll be up with the sun!
We have a Kampa tent with a darkened inner tent, it does make a difference to the creamy white inner of our large tent. Our son does tend to sleep longer in the morning, which is much appreciated.
As noted, no one will have probably tested the new Vango darkened inner tents yet. The 2011 Icarus also has other features not in the 2010 model...

In summer, if you are lucky enough to have the sun, then it usually gets too hot & uncomfortable to lie too long in the tent. You'll soon want to get up & go outside. I have had a look inside the new Icarus & I'm not yet sure if there is a great difference between the 2011 model & last years one. I suppose time will tell.
The 2011 Icarus has flymesh on both outer doors, raised rather than drop down doorways, the darkened inner tents and higher level of waterproofing. They also say that it has a large venting panel. It is the well tested design otherwise I believe.

I agree Speedcamp, it's design is tested. They're just tweaking now, and if I was in the market for one I'd get the 2011 as I'm very happy with my 2010 one. I cannot justify getting rid of a less than year old Icarus just to get the next model - there's just some things that it's never the right time to buy (eg computers!)
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I must admit, I'd be tempted to get the 2011 Icarus 500 in the end of season sales - although we have our requirements fully covered already.... My OH would probably have something to say too - "No more tents!" .
