Hi, we're looking to buy our first big family tent. We really like the Vango Marista 700 because of the enclosed ground sheeted porch area seperate to the internal carpeted living area, but we're not too keen on the bedrooms in it. We also like the Hi Gear Corado 8. I think inside we prefer this one to the Marista 700 as we like the spacious living area and bedroom set up, but it doesn't have a porch area that closed up just a small canopy. No i don't think you can get a Hi Gear addition to the Corado 8 (please correct me if i'm wrong) but does anyone know of any other compatible additions to it, maybe from another brand? Also any experience of either tent or other similar tents that we may have overlooked would be great?
Thanks a lot

I guess we need to decide if we want to sacrifice a larger inner living area for a larger porch area.. it would be getting pretty damn long with any more on
Thanks guys some good stuff to look at there! Will have a look now on the geldart site. I do like the Outwell Vermont but my partner prefers the Hi Gear Corado 8, I have been trying to bring him round to my way of thinking though
Gareth how do you find the Marista 700? We really liked it in the store we looked in, the porch area is very good especially as we have a dog and i'd prefer her to stay in the porch to save the carpeted interior from getting all hairy and muddy off her paws :) The only thing that concerned us was the height in the bedrooms really it has plenty of room to sleep what we need. We would have to sleep myself and partner in the seperate smaller 2 person part as we have a baby that's travel cot would need to go in the larger bedroom section. We were just worried that the small 2 person area might feel a little cramped? Also have you experienced any problems as a few reviews put me off with mentions of a recurring leaking window seam and problems with the hanging rail in the wardrobe section pulling the seam above it?? Before i read the reviews though it was one of our favourites

My wife and I sleep in the smaller 2 bedroom section of the tent and was slightly worried we'd not have enough space but find it fine to sleep in. We have no need to stand in our bedroom really, the 3 children sleep in the 5 berth bedroom with lots of space between the beds. I can stand fine in this bedroom.
Yes the porch would be ideal for a dog to sleep in, even thinking of using the enclosed porch for our bedroom this year with a carpet in there, lots of space!
Not used the wardrobe hanging rail so cannot comment on that one I'm afraid.
We had a couple of drips (literately) after 12 hours of heavy rain and wind, but was easily sorted with a dab of sealer on the seam. After some of people's reviews of the 2010 model I'm sure Vango will have sorted any of the quality control issues. Even with some of the negative reviews of some people the tent still scores a high review rate despite this.
All in all the tent has stood up to some quite bad weather and we're more than happy with ours.
