Hello! we're about to buy a Vango Tigris 800 (have tried one out, the small-village size is perfect for us and three wee ones); but have just seen Vango's new 'lights out' feature in this year's models - has anyone any experience of this? Is it worth paying extra for? I think I can get a 2010 model for under £250, but the cheapest I can find for the 2011 is £295. Anything that might help us all get a little more sleep would be great.

I don't think its worth it to be honest, if your buying a tent because of needing a new one, then fair enough, but to go out and buy a tent just for the feature I don't think its worth it, paying extra for darker material, sounds like a possible bit of DIY with some dark fabric over the inner tent would do the same and probably far far cheaper..

thanks Mokas. We are buying a new tent anyway; and as a bit of an expert in blackout fabric, it would probably cost us more than the extra £50 to kit out bedrooms of this size ourselves, as well as adding bulk to the tent; but it all depends on how effective it is... when I think about it, we'd pay quite a lot of money for even just a wee bit more sleep!
We have Kampa's version - sleeptite system - on our Kampa Bude 4 and it certainly makes a difference first thing relative to the cream inners on our large tent. Our son certainly sleeps longer, so we do too.
