Hi, I'm new to the forum. Joined up because of the discussions around Hypercamp tents. Im considering buying a Brighton. Anyone got any pics, gripes, etc ? Anyone know what the HH is on these cotton/polyester mix tents is ?

With it being a polycotton which is breathable material it won't have a HH rating, will ast far longer than standard poly will. I don't own the particular tent but I do own the Avantegarde, very happy with the quality of polycotton etc and a good priced company in comparison what you'd get for your money here!
I've seen the Brighton at Obelink's, because my choice was that tent. But the groundsheet isn't a bathtub or a zip-in. And me nore my wife like too much crawling creatures in our tent. That's why we bought the Korfu 4: a lot of space and an isolating groundsheet (have a look at my Hypercamp tentreview).

Thanks Lodewijk. The Korfu is a cracking looking tent, but probably will take a bit too long for me to put up. Truth be told I really want to buy a Palamos 6. Problem is my wife has a short temper and I have two infants to keep amused :o)
I want the breathability of a cotton tent, but also something that won't cause a domestic to put up. Suppose the other option could be a rosas 4 with a tarp..,
The Palamos is a hell of a tent, but there is one big "but": You haven't much space because of the walls. Get the picture: it's raining, the children want to play inside the tent, and daddy and mommy try to read or something. Now look again at the Palamos. Well? I was focussed too but my wife said (grrrrr): Do you think we will have space enough when the grandchildren go with us? Of course she is right. So we took the Korfu. I did not know that I would need 1 1/2 hour because of the poles, they are positioned on the inside. One has to keep the poles on the outside and the second has to crawl in to zip in the others. There's the time you're loosing. Why not looking at the Porto Ercole or the Firino. Both tents have a zipped-in, thick groundsheet, space enough to suit the whole family and not too heavy. If you have any questions (the Obelink website is in Dutch, as you've expirienced) please feel free to ask!
Never easy is it. The Porto Ercole and the Firino are both just slightly too long when packed to fit in the boot of my car (ones 1.15M the other 1.2M). I have a roof box, but the max capacity is only 50Kg so that ideas out the window too.
I'll have to find out about the Monaco 4 as well, wonder if that has a slightly smaller packed size ? I guess the Record 6 has a separate groundsheet as well ?

The Record 6 has a groundsheet in two parts. I could not find the packed size of the Monaco 4 but I think it is oversized too. Another idea: have a look at www.vrijbuiter.nl . They've got high quality cottonmade tents too. But they are a more expensive then Obelink. Nevertheless, if you see something but don't understand, because it's Dutch, then contact me and I'll let you know. My Dutch is quit good :) .
I phoned them and you are right: they were a webshop too, but because of several difficulties they stopped with it this season. I'm afraid you are back by Obelink. Do you want me to phone them for the packed size of the Monaco? I can do that tomorrow and send you a message that day.
I would certainly prefer to go for one that has a ZIG or atleast a sewn in one. I love the Firino, may get one for myself next year as a weekender for me and maybe just 1or2 of the kids

Drat... kicking myself about the Dallas 4, looks to be just right :o(
Ive emailed Obelink about the Monaco to see what the dimensions are packed. Seems to be some confusion on the website what the pitched dimensions are too says length 545 and also 690....
I have the Palamos 6 and although I have only test pitched so far (real test in April) the inside space can be dramatically increased if you move the wall to the very front of the tent. The floor area becomes 350 x 390 for living space and although the walls do slope there is plenty of useable space for a family of four or even five IMO.The canvas is excellent and it was very easy to erect although can't say I'm looking forward to pegging out the guys properly lol.
Forgot to add there is a better picture of the Palamos 6 than the one on the Obelink website on my gallery images. You can guage how much more space you can utilise especially if you take a utility tent to cook in as we are planning to do.
Thanks Jayner. How long is it taking you to pitch ? Also how much of the pitching can be done by one person ? Presumably there are the two cross beams to do, then the vertical pole and everything else is just lots of pegs ?
It took us about 20 minutes, 5 minutes to zip on the groundsheet and peg down, 2 minutes to put in centre pole and about 10/15 minutes or so to put in the front poles and zip on the front. I would think that one person could do it in 25 minutes or so. Next time we are going to put the front two poles in first then the centre pole to see which is easier.
