If I was looking at the two Outwells and needed 3 bedrooms it would have to be the Vermont xl. Its a more traditional shape so fitting on pitches would be easier, far easier to pitch and has a great front porch area.
Just my opinion.

We've seen the kampa polycotton on display and were really impressed with the quality.  It had been on display all summer and we went at the end of the season when it was a very windy day.  It stood there as if a gentle breeze was teasing it lol.  All the polyester tents were bent down to the ground and most had huge rips and holes in them :(

From that display knew we'd never get a polyester tent even though we'd never have a tent up all year lol.

I like the look of the Vermont xl too but don't like the price and that its polyester.  I liked the look of this one http://www.camperlands.co.uk/kampa-tenby-10-2010-tent.html before i saw the ripped polyester tents :(

I think it was the Kampa Holkham that we saw and would recommend it but its only a 6 berth which means suitable for 4 :(

Funny that, because you wont see any polycotton at Everest base camp, or on any expedition.

Back to the length of time it might last I think a car analogy is in order.
It all depends upon the build quality of the car in the first instance, then the annual mileage, what sort of wear and tear, how well serviced and looked after it is...
I could go on but you get the gist.
Our Monty 6 is 5 years old, done a lot of miles and had my 2 kids in it for those 5 years. It has been exposed to lots of rain and a lot of sunshine.
It's now semi retired. I did a very rough price per night calculation and reckon that we have done over 120 nights camping in the one tent over 5 years. It cost around the £500 mark and although we have looked after it well it has been hammered. £4 a night though or £1 a night each for the 4 of us isn't bad at all and that is a conservative estimate. It may well rack up many more nights but not as our main family tent any longer.

In a sense you get what you pay for, I suspect Outwell prices reflect their brand position and market share now rather than true quality, that said, my Monty has never let us down and I would happily and may well buy another Outwell.
