Ive booked 2 nights at Haven this weekend so need a tent in the next 2-3 days. I have 3 young kids and myself and my wife so need a minimum 5 berth but would prefer 6/7/ or 8 berth for the extra room.
Ive seen quite a few and did like the Vango Icarus 600 but they have a new moidel out now which is alot of money (i saw the older icarus 600 for under £150 late last year and wish i bought it)
AZnybody have any recommendations? Ive seen gelert and Hi Gear but dont know if they are any good?
Matt
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Hi, Ooow you.v left it late. Lol. Having a vango myself i would recommend them for being easy to pitch, good quality, lots of additions available, and excellent value for money. My second choice would be co Outwell.

Well, you're going to have to go to a shop and get it, you can't rely on the internet. So, I'd head down to whatever large retailer that you have near you, like Go Outdoors, which will have stock and have a look around at what they have that is in your price range.
As you've left it so late, the only choice you really have is going to a local camping store and see what they have available to take away today within your price range.
The Icarus 600 is a well favoured tent on this site but the bedroom pod is only 360cm wide allowing a maximum of 72cm per person - this would rule out most airbeds and campbeds which would mean you would have ti use slef inflating mats (SIMs) Also you may find the living area rather cramped for 5 people (including 3 youngsters and all their toys) if you are stuck inside for any length of time due to bad weather.
Hi You don't say where you live. Are there any tent shops around you as most have started to put up there tent displays :) Yeomans are quite good in getting the tent you want the next day if they don't have it in stock but most of them will have what's on display in stock. Go Outdoors also have plenty of stock but don't seem to have that many large tents on display :(
Teh Gelert and Hi Gear are (i think) the cheapy tents so you are likely to get lots of condensation in your tent meaning wet beds through the night :(
It's better to buy a more expensive tent with a higher quality material that cope with your heat and breathing through the night and that will last a lot longer than a cheap tent that won't.
I'd recommend a second hand canvas tent. You can often see them advertised locally but do check them out before you hand over any cash :)
Hi, went to the local go outdoors and seemed to only have hi gear mostly and we didn't really like the layouts so I went on to the Internet and found that our local water garden has started doing tents and we went and bought a 2011 Icarus 600 and the vango footprint for £228.99 which I think is a good price. So roll on Saturday!!!!
