Hi all,

My first post here!

Can anyone recomend me a family tent? It's for me, the wife and our two kids. Our kids are 13month old twins so the tent will need to fit two travel cots inside. We will be traveling by car so size and weight is not too much of an issue.

Everyone will need to know your budget first, or we could be recommending tents that are never going to be within your reach.

We've had ours since 2007 and absolutely love it - still looks like new and it has withstood plenty of torrential rain and howling wind with no damage at all.

I'd highly recommend it as a good quality, spacious family tent.

How about a second hand Outwell Montana 6?

A great and very popular tent?

Vango Columbia 600 (£445 in 2009) with a few still around for about £280. Very similar to the Montana 600 (It was Vango's version - steel poles, 5000HH, 2/3 bedrooms, full or part opening front, side porch). Some photos show it with fibreglass poles  so people don't notice it. Worth a look - the Sungari 600 or Samara 600 canopies should fit, along with Sungari 600 footprint and carpet (although the latter are very scarce). A similar spec tent new today would cost you a lot more!

Did you get it from Tony Wilds? Keep meaning to get myself up there to buy some more extra strong pegs. Is the display still mainly Royal and Khyam?

I also second the Columbia 600 which you can get brand new for under £300 so wouldn't buy a secondhand Montana in that situation and they are pretty much the same tent!!

The Khyam Ontario looks pretty good too!
