Can anyone recomend me a family tent? It's for me, the wife and our two kids. Our kids are 13month old twins so the tent will need to fit two travel cots inside. We will be traveling by car so size and weight is not too much of an issue.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. I hadn't thought about budget. i'm a bit of a tent amature so don't really know how much these things cost. I do want something that will last and will stay in one peice in a storm so i would be prepared to pay up to £300.
* Easy to erect tunnel tent * 3 large bedrooms (2+2+4) which offers flexible sleeping options as your family grows * Bedroom pods can be removed if you don't want to use them all * Spacious central living area (3.7m x 3.2m if using all the bedroom pods) * Standing height throughout (225cm) * SIG (sewn in groundsheet which keeps drafts and bugs out and wayward toddlers in!) * Groundsheet drops flat at the doors so no trip hazzard * Large windows * Doors can be canopied out to form a sun porch ( 1 set of king poles are included) * Very good ventilation * Fits on standard pitch (tent measures 7.5m x 3.7m) * 5000HH rating (will withstand anything the great British weather can throw at it
We've had ours since 2007 and absolutely love it - still looks like new and it has withstood plenty of torrential rain and howling wind with no damage at all.
I'd highly recommend it as a good quality, spacious family tent.

I would also go for a used Montana as the bedrooms are all at one end so nice and close to the young ones. Whatever you choose you will need at least a 6 person tent and check the bedroom sizes to make sure 2 cots will fit in

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Vango Columbia 600 (£445 in 2009) with a few still around for about £280. Very similar to the Montana 600 (It was Vango's version - steel poles, 5000HH, 2/3 bedrooms, full or part opening front, side porch). Some photos show it with fibreglass poles so people don't notice it. Worth a look - the Sungari 600 or Samara 600 canopies should fit, along with Sungari 600 footprint and carpet (although the latter are very scarce). A similar spec tent new today would cost you a lot more!
------------- Love our set-up and need no more tents or gear, so trying to stop looking!
The past weekend I bought a new tent. I got a Khyam Ontario 8 XC with Sun Porch (Side extension), Carpet and Ground sheet for just under £350. Well happy with it and i'll post a few pics when I get home Tonight. Not camped out in it yet but i'd recommend it from first impressions.
I would go for a Montana 6 as well, you won't regret it - certainly big enough and a tent you can keep adding to.
Lots available 2nd hand or keep your eye out for a bargain. This weekend is looking good for that - do you have a Go Outdoors near you? I think most people do these days. If so they have an excellent tent offer this Saturday.

Did you get it from Tony Wilds? Keep meaning to get myself up there to buy some more extra strong pegs. Is the display still mainly Royal and Khyam?
I also second the Columbia 600 which you can get brand new for under £300 so wouldn't buy a secondhand Montana in that situation and they are pretty much the same tent!!
I would have to recommend the vango amazon 600. Have been out in all weathers and came up good. The only thing is, that when there is high winds we often collapse the front porch for safety . It would of been nice if vango had made it a zipped porch(will do that at some point this year)but sill great tent. You can pick up second hand for under £250 ,brand new about £500........
Rhino, do be aware that you can get camping cots for babies rather than the usual travel cots. A lot lighter and smaller but still plenty of room for the babies
